Given some of the issues with phones bought on ebay and the like being blocked in the future when they are reported stolen I would be careful if considering buying from them. If its a long established seller/ ebay store then its probably fine but its certainly more risky than buying from a retail store.

Of course there is a risk but you don't buy it from any joe bloggs
if you follow good common sense then its no risk at all.

1. Look for recent history & excellent feedback
2. Ask if they have any paperwork
3. Keep a screen print of the auction
4. Use PayPal or Credit Card
5. Ask the Seller if he will update his Operator and inform them
of the sale to you and ask him to register the sale on their
system with your name, address & tel no.

Unfortunately these days a lot of people look for the cheapest price and not much else.

windows 8 is coming around Oct. I think Win Phone 8 is likely to be around the same month as well as iPhone 5.
The Nokia is also likely to have PureView technology. The camera is one of the best. Same quality as mid range compact.
If I was OP I will wait and see 3-4 months to see what iPhone 5 and Win Phone 8 have. You will be using the phone for two years. By that time the price for S3 may also go down
