I know it's a bad example but this is the only way to make the point to Android fanboys and to answer op's question.
The post 7 & 8 could have helped the op even if it was pro-android rather then going on about crap.

So which one would be the best to look at and for what reason, A Iphone, Blackberry, Android or Windows.

If I was you I will check both phones in a shop and see which one you like.
    iPhone 4 or 4s
The app store is better and all apps will work since apps are written for iPhones only.
The screen is smaller then s3
    Easy to use. Use iOS
If you like OS which add extra functions you can install them on the day of release without long wait.

    Samsung S3
    Large screen
    Based on Android 4.1
Limited apps, due to way apps are written some apps such as sky go do not work, I think the update might be released soon.
OS updates are slow to come. Some take 4-6 months to receive after release.
    Malware problem

Both phones are good. As I have said check them out. For me S3 is bit too big.
Both 4s and s3 have satnav built in, both have Siri ( called s on s3), with both you can use skydrive or Dropbox.
Where did the OP say anything about getting an iPhone or a Galaxy SIII? The question was which OS (out of Iphone, Blackberry, Android or Windows) would be best was it not?

You've not answered the question though have you? It's like you see Android (and nothing else) and have to bang on about malware. Why?

    Ok Thanks for the replies.

Mainly use current phone for texting, photos, music (via radio or mp3 files from laptop), emails and browsing/facebook/twitter and very few calls, games.

I am lead to believe with Iphone you cannot Bluetooth to none iphones/laptop with photos/video, music etc.and you cannot play mepg videos emailed to you, also you are tied to Iphone unless you Jailbreak.

As for Malware, again lead to believe you can get AntiMalware software/apps for either.

Told Blackberry being safe with emails, texting etc

    As for buying £400/500

Samusng Galaxy SIII or HTC One X sound like the best option for you if you can live with the size of them.

Blackberrys are very secure, but if you're going to be doing a lot of web browsing the small screens on these are likely to annoy you.

iPhones need jailbreaking for Bluetooth file transfer and you have to use iTunes for transferring anything onto the phone.

HTC Titan might interest you. Big screen and Windows Phone so it easy to use but has similar limitations to iPhone with a smaller number of apps and isn't upgradeable to Windows Phone 8 if that bothers you.

i dont think iphones have FM radio reception like android phones. some android phones can record FM radio too. I mention this since you say you listen to the radio.

If you meant internet radio then most smartphones should be able to do it.

android can send any file via bluetooth or email or dropbox or hundred other options including android beam / wifi direct / s beam which are much faster than bluetooth.

you can also drag and drop files on android from your computer or wifi networked resources or even on 3g connection.

you can instal and uninstal apps without your phone being with you or send stuff to your phone.

variosu types of android phones out there and not all can do all the above. You choose wisely.

If you need to find out more about some of the features then watch videos on this play list http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF2E689203EE62F20&feature=view_all and decide what suits you best. Every ones needs are not the same.

I would say no to HTC One X
DISGRUNTLED OWNERS of the HTC One X have flocked to the web to complain about a WiFi connection issue with the HTC flagship smartphone, reportedly caused by a 'death grip' problem.

    Also from XDA

If you still like one x you can pick one like new for £340 from Amazon, £160 cheaper then when released for £500 over few months back

With iPhone you can also link to car Bluetooth system, hands free system etc. if you are using a drop box or sky drive you would be better off with the wifi, the Bluetooth would be too slow.

With Android select the phone carefully as all products don't work with all phones. If you are into hacks and hacking then Android is the best os.

At the end you will need to use the phone not me, check all of them out, make a list of functions you must need to make sure phone can do that. You can also ask the questions in the shop.

Also do your own research. Due to open forum the opinions and knowledge here is either limited or biased towards one os or phone, mainly whatever we have or like. You will see that most posts will say good things about one product vs bad about others, may be small good point thrown in to make it look like its a balanced view. Read the review from CNET and others too. Build your own knowledge.

For example one post have said blackberry phones have a small screen but others may find perfect for everyday use and the email system is great. Some will like S3 others will think its way to big and might prefer iPhone or Windows Phone

Check everything out whatever phone you go for you will be using it for two years, not others.

I would say that the smart people are lapping up the Galaxy S2, it is still a superb phone.
