But still hasn't really dropped in price since the S3 release. And if its on a contract then the smalll difference in monthly price between them makes the S3 the better choice IMO

I'd be tempted to sit tight for a couple of months..have a look and see what Apple bring to the table with the iPhone 5 in the autumn. Of course, Lord only knows when they'll actually announce the thing...

On Amazon S2 is around £330 vs S3 of £480.

For OP it is worth waiting for iPhone 5 and also Windows Phone 8, both are going to be released soon.

What makes the iphone5 or windows phone 8 worth waiting for?

the point I was making was that the S2 didn't really drop in price as most people expected once the S3 was released.

Considering the person suggesting it, the main reason will be that it's not an android phone.

You get malware on them you know?

For me, return on investment. Two years down the line, when I want to sell my current phone and get a new one, I'd get much more for an iphone 5, than an iphone 4s that was bought 2 months before the 5 came out....

In terms of features, I guess we'll have to wait and see...

This is always going to be a debate when it comes to technology. Do I wait for the new thing or do I go with what is available now (and fits your own purpose). No one knows exactly when the next new stuff is going to be release and once the new phone (insert other tech stuff here) is released, there will be another one coming in 6-12 months time. One can end up playing the waiting game forever and not ever owning it.

One could...But you have to use what you know to guide you as to when to wait and when to take the plunge. For instance, it's been two years since the iPhone 4 was released, with only a minor tweak in the meantime...the iPhone 3 was around for two years with a (more substantial) tweak. So we know that we're overdue a new iPhone. We can also be relatively confident that it will be another 2 years before we see the next major revision. So, you have two options...buy iPhone 4 in month 25/24, or but iPhone 5 in month 1/24...Like I said before, I know which I think will hold value better - and I'm pretty sure which will be the better phone, too.

Of course, it's personal choice, but just my 2c worth.

I would agree on that basis. However, if one needs a phone now, one needs to buy it now rather than waiting. I suppose it boils down to the OP circumstances. If he is not in a hurry, then he could wait. Although, bearing in mind, no release date (everyone is just speculating at the moment) is known for both iPhone 5 or WM8, so he could be waiting for a while.

I picked up a brand new white S2 from a well known auction site for
    £250
