Can people input there "own personal key" into a generic tomtom program?
I'm just wondering if someone with a working version could upload a torrent that could then be downloaded and put onto an SD card?
They could then input their "own personal key" to activate the tomtom software.
Would it be possible to do this
Sorry about the cheek of it!
It seems to be alot of hardwork and the people who are leading the way are not geting much thanks for it!
I got two of these on Easter Friday. One for me and one as a present, there both still boxed at the moment. I'm waiting till I gety my new van on the road before I open or get too drawn in to installing Tomtom. At the moment I don't know the quality of the Medion software, neither I have I used a Tomtom so I don't that either for a reasonable comparison.
Anyway, Thanks for the hardwork guys, I might need the advice and help in the future.

Yippee. TomTom no longer giving me an error message and no longer crashing every time the blue TT screen appears.
Problem rested with the data.chk file. I think there was already one on the device before I imported the TomTom software which has its own data.chk file. At some point I muddled them up - not sure which one im running now, but its the other one, and TomTom is working.
If anyones having problems installing TomTom on the PNA205 (as opposed to putting it on the SD card) dont forget to install Regedit and to create a modified.reg file and install it using Regedit. Mine wouldnt work without it although I understand this is not required running TT from an SD card
Many thanks Ritz & Lightfast for your support along the way. If it worked for you I knew it had to work for me at some point. And thanks Bellamy too for your help.
My experience is that TomTom takes a bit longer to find the satellites than the Medion software, but that TT is much more precise than Medion. For example, Medion was telling me to turn right where there was no turning (did this a few times). Also, TT takes me on better routes than the Medion. TT wins hands down for me.0 -
I'm finding the sat nav quite good, my only gripe wi it is that I can barely hear the bleep for the speed cameras, several times today I sped past them because i didn't hear a bleep, it is the quietest bleep in the world... is anyone else having this problem and does anyone know a way around this?! thanks!0

We now call our Medion sat-nav 'that bossy women who tells us where to turn' .. its like having a school mistress shouting at you0

the medion software is ok, found a road not on it today, and 5 times in around 200 miles it has tried to get me to turn into no entry streets (including a pedestrian precinct) and tells me to make u turns where it is illegal to do so, ok for a basic sat nav... which is really a true description of it. tomtom beckons0

I installed TCPMP in my Flash Disk folder and then pasted into the menu.xml file (found in the Navigation folder) the following text so the folder could be found and an icon seen:-
<app name="Media Player" mandatory="0">
<title text="" color="255,227,255" halign="left" valign="bottom" font="Arial,16,BOLD"></title>
<icon posX="165" posY="180" width="40" height="40">
<resource path="navigation\menu\320240/icon_photoviewer.png" />
</icon>
<action path="\My Flash Disk\TCPMP\player.exe"></action>
</app>
You will see I resized the icon so it could be squeezed in. You might choose to create your own icon.
After doing this you need to do a soft-reset (insert pin into hole underneth device)and it should work. The TCPMP program takes a while to load up first time (maybe 30secs)0 -
With all the problems some people have had with their units I consider myself extremely lucky. I bought two of these on Good Friday, one for myself and one as a gift. I've never had a satnav before so I had no real expectations of how it would work (I always thought I could live without such a gadget) but for £60 I decided to give it a go. It took minutes to initally set up the language, speed camera alert, etc and then I attached it to the screen, plugged it into the cigarette lighter socket and off I went! :j
We have been away this week and have done a lot of travelling in unfamiliar areas where the satnav has been well tested. For the price I am very very impressed. Some of the locations we visited would never have been found so quickly without this unit so it definitely saved us time and petrol.
I also live in the country and it has directed me locally down different country lanes and shown me quicker routes to places I have been travelling to for years. I am well chuffed.
I typed in my home postcode whilst in Staffordshire and directly outside my house it told me "You have reached your destination". I think its great.
I agree with the comments about the tone of the ladys voice but we have given her a very posh name and my daughter sits in the back of the car replying to every instruction with "Thank you
" (I have omitted the name to avoid offending anyone who actually has that particular name).
Sorry to all those that have had problems.:o I guess thats just the luck of the draw.0
