Hiya try the following and this may resolve the issues.
Do a hard reset of the unit. This can be done by holding the power button in and pressing the reset button with a pin under the unit.
After that rerun the regedit part of it and hopefully everything should magically start working as expected.
Ritz
Thanks for responding soquickly on this Ritz. Unfortunately the magic isnt working. Done a hard reset a few times and then reinstalled modified.reg with Regedit and then performed soft-reset. Still getting the dreaded error messages when blue Tom Tom screen runs.
Any more suggestions?
Ritz, could you list the files/folders you are running in FlashDisk/TomTom Folder and also those in the FlashDisk Folder. Cant help wondering if ive made a pigs dinner of this.0 -
Hi all, I see there are plenty like me that cant get their head round this device
. I know it was cheap but if it cant direct you correctly then its of no use  . I've read that TomTom is being ported on to it and was wondering if some one could put step by step instructions up I would be eternally grateful as I'm sure would others. If not then unfortunately its going back:D
Page 15 of this thread for step-by-step guide for installing TomTom, or Page 22 if you want to run TT from an SD Card.
This is a great product but requires tweaking for optimum performance - and this can be difficult and frustrating. Its worth sticking with.0 -
For those experiencing crashing when running TomTom from a memory card, I found I had to have a /Flash Disk/TomTom folder where TomTom would write a cfg file.
Without the folder caused crash, with allows it to run fine.0 -
Hiya the unit is not currently in my possession as it was intented for my father but from what I remember the folder structure is as follows
On \My Flash there is the following folders TomTom, Voice, Zip and Greate-Britain-Maps
On \My Flash\TomTom, there are 2 files "TomTm Navigation.exe" and data.chk. The rest of the files are not needed.
Does the error message only show when you open TomTom or other times as well. It's possible that the Medion unit itself could be faultyThanks for responding soquickly on this Ritz. Error message is always associated with TomTom blue screen and the screen where you enter City:name. It always crashes when these screens appear. Medion unit itself has not given any problems0 -
Am struggling with getting tomtom on it, followed the instructions as posted and its still not working.
Getting frustrated with it, could anyone help me
thanksI have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something0 -
Surely if you have messed about with the files and deleted things etc this could not be returned?
I highly recommend the Nav Man f20 its great - special offer on at Argos at the moment, £129.99, its slim, quite a big display, and has the 'matt' screen so that the sun does not shine on it. Re-routes really quickly if I have went the wrong way.
Yes the other one was cheap, but I shouldn't expect to spend upwards of 6 hours just trying to get it to work.:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0 -
I guess it's all luck of the draw though.
I took mine out of the box, put the batteries in and pressed the power button. It booted, self installed (in English) and after a few reboots, and absolutely no intervention from me it was showing me my current location And the whole process took maybe 5 minutes as I sat in my lounge drinking my cup of tea.
Until I have fully tested the software I'm not going to swap it out for TomTom, especially as it would involve an extra cost (I don't own it) and messing around with the unit. The nav system seems sensitive enough, and as I've never had a TomTom I have no comparison. I'd love to swap out the rather stern-voiced lady for something a bit more pleasant, but once again for £60 I can't complain.
My only beef would be with the company Tesco used for delivery. I wasn't in when they tried to deliver, so instead of contacting me or leaving it with a neighbour, or taking it back to try again later they left put it inside the recycling bin in front of my front door and left a note to say as much. Not exactly the most sensible or secure way to deliver a package!Librarian: "Ook ook ookity OOK OOK!"
Student: "uuuuuuuh, nice monkey?"
Librarian: "OOOOOOOOOOOK?!?!?"0 -

Ditto, I'm also having problems getting tomtom working and any help would be great.
For me, I can get tomtom starting to install but I get the 'fatal exception error' as soon as I've chosen which voice I want.0 -

mine would crash after selecting the voice because the map wasnt activated. Its not really easy to help with actually installing since everyone has different versions and starting points.
I had tomtom up and running on my xda so just copied it straight from that and played around with it till it worked. To install from scratch would be a lot harder but i wouldnt know lol0
