We got the Gopal 210 from PC World yesterday, decided the extra £20 was worth it for the SiRF iii chipset. I think other than that it is the same as the 205.
First impressions:
Good points:
It works. Navigated us back from the store Ok and very quickly redirected when we took wrong turns. Mostly well timed voice directions.
Very detailed mapping of minor streets.
Fast to pick up satellites - even picked up a signal in our house - our old Garmin GPS 12 handheld GPS can't do that.
Pleasant voice and clearly understandable 3D map. Gives the road name of where you are.
Bad points:
Really really lousy manual - says full manual for navigation in PDF format on CDrom - why can't they at least give a basic rundown in the booklet?
Maximum volume not loud enough - stereo had to be quite low - may look into ways of amplifiying it.
Strange directions at times told us to turn right at one point when there was no turns for at least a 100m acand told us to turn left when in fact all it was was a sharp bend. I think the map digitisation may leave a lot to be desired.
When we detoured through our town rather the quicker main road home it wanted to take us to go back to the main road for quite a way rather than what was now the quicker minor road route.
The POI sucks. Not happy that you seem to have to use POI Warner - am I correct that this is the only way to get POI lists onto the device?
The petrol station list sucks bigtime, it shows one local station that closed 5-10 years ago and another that closed at least 15 years ago but not the little one down the road or another that closed recently, not impressed by that at all.
On the whole though I think it will do what we need, which is occasional use. If I needed one for work though I would buy something better and more configurable.Joe

...
As for not being able to put in the house number, a postcode only covers up to 80 properties and is usually a lot less, so it should not be too much trouble to find the house once you are on the street.
...
Just tried mine again today and found that it does actually do premise level directions (i.e. house number) rather than just postcode and it took me directly to the door.
An even happier (Easter!) bunny today.:j0 -
