I had a dark blue Audi that showed up every little mark. A Dealer told me they call dark blue "Doom Blue" as it shows up every little blemish.

I fear that your chances of proving a paint defect are slim, and to be fair its a very subjective matter.

You mention that its a 60 plate with 40K on the clock, so its not even 2 years old yet. I suspect that its led a hard short life hammering up and down the motorway.

Have you tried using a colored polish / wax to try and disguise the primer?

    I bet it hasn't...

I had a MK3 Mondeo with over 150k on and it looked like that.

Well, I have a 12 year old Mondeo with 130K, and the paint finish on that is far better (and far easier to maintain) than the finish on my 4 year old Mazda (with 47K) which we have sold.

I am guessing that a good (by someone who knows what they are doing - me) polishing job, using all the fancy clay bars, finishing waxes and the rest, taking four hours, will keep the OP's car looking good for about a week, or until they have to sell it;)
That is the story of Maxda metallic paint, it requires constant TLC, and will not really reward you.

We took an old BMW 528i on holiday to the continent a couple of weeks after I totally resprayed it in light metallic green, clear over base, using Glasurit paint. We spent a couple of weeks there, and had several trips for a few hours, up and down the Autobahns at around 120MPH. There was not a mark on the car when we came home, and the dead flies just came off with a wet sponge.
I sold the car five years later, and the paintwork was still unmarked.
One of the ways that Mazda cut down on the weight of their cars (listen to their adverts) is to make the metal thin, and cut down on the amount of paint being used.

I have spent a lot of time polishing out defects and swirl marks out of the paint on the rest of the car and got it to a standard I am currently happy with.

The front end has been machined and wax but you can still see the marks.

I reckon the front bumper will need wet sanding to get rid of a lot of the marks before painting.

I'm filly into my car detailing and my current pot of wax cost me £45 so not a cheap one.

I don't suppose you fancy painting the front of my car do you ?

We want to keep the car for a few years, so I have found a product called ceramishield which acts as another top coat and is harder than the cars own top coat.

If it was 10 years ago, and I had the facilities (nice, dry, dust free environment), then I would be only too pleased to have a go, but I think any half decent sprayer could do a good job if they use the right materials.
You could try asking at any local bodyshop, or even look for auto paint suppliers in your area, and see if they can recommend anyone. If you are using Ceramishield, then the painting environment needs to be surgically clean with adequate extraction facilities, to avoid any particle contamination.
From my experience of Mazdas, it may be worth you giiving the car a good look all over, to see if any other areas need attention - wheel arches, underneath the sills and floor.
In their haste to make light cars, Mazda seem to have forgotten that paint and metal still play an important part in making a good car.

Bit of a sweeping claim that isn't it?

Without knowing that much about the Mazda paint it is a bit tricky to say it is all paint, unless of course you work on the production lines at Mazda.

My experience has been that blue, especially dark blue is generally an issue. Subaru had similar problems as the white primer really shows up the chips where it doesn't look as obvious on silver.

It's still going to be largely down to the way its been driven though.

What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
If you had said that about tyre wear, clutch/gearbox wear, suspension parts, then I could have taken you seriously.

I think that the OP and myself know what we are talking about when it comes to Mazda paint issues, because we are basing it on real life experience.

    Really?

Please tell me all about my real life experiences and how you know I'm not doing the same.
