What mileage is this car?
I have an Ice Blue Mazda 6, 2011 with 12k, it has a few chips but way less than the black Honda Civic I had previously.0 -

hi here are a few links to other threads on different website with people complaining about the paint on their cars.......

this is a quote from another website...."
I went to view a 59 Plate MAZDA6 Sport estate in the same colour recently. And yes, I found exactly the same thing. Every panel had a scuff of some sort. The front end looked sandblasted (especially the parking sensors). It really put me off. "0 -
Was it a main Mazda dealer? How do you know it hasnt had a "Cheepo" respray?0

We sold our Mazda (blue metallic), mainly because the paint finish was - DISGUSTING. I reported it to the main dealer, when the car was in warranty, and they were not interested, neither was Mazda UK - both deny this being a problem.
It is a problem, and a very well known one for Mazda owners, particularly owners with cars in darker metallic finishes.
Mazda use a white primer on these cars, and the topcoat (combined metallic/lacquer) flakes off at the slightest prompting.
If you go on the Mazda forums, then many people are complaining about this, but seem to get shouted down by the mods (possibly work for Mazda?).
There are also other problems, such as corrosion around wheelarches and underneath - not something you expect to see on a three year old car!
The customer service at Mazda dealers, is IMO quite shocking, they are simply in denial about most things.
The fact is, that until the motoring press/media keep praising these manufacturers, putting them on a pedestal, then they will continue to churn out sub standard goods, and treat the consumer like dirt.0 -

Hi and thanks for the reply.
do you think it is worth pursuing the dealer I bought the car from to rectify it as was agreed in the sales deal.
The salesman who sold us the car told us it would be sorted but did not pass this info on to his mamager and has since left the company.
We have only had the car a month.

"My friends white mazda 6 which is a year older than mine and has done more miles has no stone chips what so ever on the front.??"
Are you sure that's only because you can't see them as clearly, white paint on white primer?!0 -

nope absolutely not. you can feel them on the front of my car, whereas his paintwork is nice and smooth.0 -

the chips were pointed out to the salesman at the time a deal was struck along with a few other things.
when i picked it up the car must of been polished or something as ive normally got a keen eye for this but couldnt see them through the rain.
the thing is, the car seems to be getting more chips already !!
it seems like the paint is really thin.0
