Why dosn't she take a travel toothbrush and toothpaste to school if she's worried about her breath smelling? Then she could eat anything she liked for lunch. Except garlic, maybe.

That's a good idea - we have a zillion flight toothbrushes and paste with just a squeeze out. Thanks. Amazing how a throw away comment gets such a great response - that's what I love about this site.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Just to say on a recent visit to the Dentist with my son, he was told not to brush until 30 minutes after eating and not to rinse after brushing. Was also told not to use mouthwash until 30 minutes after brushing.
It's made our morning routine very interesting.

    Good morning :)

I'm in a dash but wanted to check in with you. Teachers? Do you gift teachers at Christmas? If so, what? Saw some Roses in Coop for £2 on offer. I'm tempted to just get some and then it's done with but the savvy in me thinks I'd like the girls to bake something, but then the stingy in me though it'll probably cost more in ingredients than buying the Roses.

As we can see, I'm fine today... back to pondering meaningless daftness. ;)
  • So close so close . Only had enough fuel to go to work for one shift and have 2 to work  had worked 2 agency shifts but wasn't sure if I'd get paid for them this week as time sheets in late . Also had a cheque that looked like it was going to tigger ( bounce)
well :T the money is in . Cheque and direct debit covered and able to get fuel . Whew am so relieved .
Reason I'm so short is had big bill for my van - service and also a puncture . I can't do without my van as work is too far away and public transport although runs would extend my working day by 3 hours .
Food for me and dogs already in so now I'm fine til end of the month . Had to budget really carefully but tbh getting proud that so far I'm managing even if by a close SQUEEK . All due to knock on from last month when I had insurance , road tax in same month . I do have a bills account . I also have an empty savings account and have decided to put set amount to cover van into this to cover those so next time it's due the cost is spread out. Wish I'd done it last time but live and learn is what it's all about . S

Morning FUDDLE - DD1 who teaches does get given little things at christmas but the things she values most are the little homemade things that the kids she teaches have made themselves, in her book (and those of many of her colleagues) the little jar of jam/chutney or packet of biscuits says far more to her than a bottle of wine or box of chocs!!!!

Buy the ROSES - it will make you HAPPY!!!!!!!

    Cheers Lyn xxx.

Der - Did you mean Roses Chocs and not flowers? Ise a Numpty I thought you meant flowers for you!
Scenario 1 - Flowers - buy buy buy and enjoy!!!
Scenario 2 - Ignore advice to buy as just plain lunacy and bake bake bake!!!
Good job you know me isn't it? Cheers Lyn xxx.

Fuddle - we do teachers gifts but I try to stick to really stuff, DS8 has a minimum of five to buy for often more at the moment its eight:eek:

I have done plants one year, a bottle of wine (special offer 3 for £10 buy 6 save extra 25%) and candles another. Its all about what you can afford, and time. If you think you will have time to bake then its worth a go - but remember its Christmas, everything takes longer with queues etc and school will have plays, services and who knows what else you will be expected to attend. :)

Have had twenty minutes in alone today:j:j but have raced about getting SC on and tidying up after yesterdays whirlwinds!!

Off to do a pick up and then to grab some bits for Ald!, was planning going tomorrow but have managed to book DS14 an in depth eye test tomorrow and its an hour away so wont have a minute. :)
  • bornblonde It'll be the plug hole. I have the same problem with slugs in my kitchen, and more than once I've found one of the nasty little creatures half in/half out of the plug hole and/or overflow. I regularly throw a load of salt and boiling water down there now.

Fuddle we do teacher and TA gifts, usually fudge or something.
This year though the new Head has instigated a no-presents policy. Bit of a shame I think but it will at least be cheap!

Possession I think thats a good idea a few friends I have who work in schools say they're always inundated with chocs and wine and many are on diets or don't drink, they're grateful but feel embarassed when parents are struggling and still come in with gifts it is a hard one..

Fuddle I tend to buy everyone tins of chocs when on offer or wine when its 3 for a tenner but see my post above lol

Ginny hope all went well yesterday X
