  • Oh CAKE I'm so very sorry. Poor catto but, I'm sure he couldn't have been in a better place than his home and grateful that the vet was kind and gentle as well. Of course you'll miss him, grief is natural when you love unreservedly but know that he loved you back just as much. I hope stripey cat can cope Ok until you find him a new friend in the fullness of time and I know you will be Ok when you have come to terms with it, but I feel for you, Chin up, Lyn xxx.

Oh I am so sorry The Cake. No one's stuation is any less important than someone else's and it hurts just as much. Your cat was a companion and friend so will be missed.

On the radio phone in mainly about part time work a few minutes ago but being a carer came up(one man has gone onto PT work so he can take his Mum out for days as she is in a Nursing Home)and he wants to make her life more enjoyable but in passing the presenter said that he read yesterday that so much care is done for free or for so little money from the Government they probably save the state something like £191Billion annually.

Well, my poorly little catto was put to sleep this morning, at home, peacefully, by a really kind and gentle sympathetic vet. It went just as I would have wished, and now my main feeling is one of relief, as I had been slowly saying my goodbyes to him for a few weeks.... I will miss him like mad, but in good time will be glad to give another rescue cat a happy home, as I still have his (large, stripey) brother, who will need a companion, and I know all the rescue places are full to bursting, and will only get worse this winter.
Love to all of you who are wrestling with far more challenging lives, you are such a help and support, as well as a source of useful (and occasionally useless!!) advice and hilarity, I really appreciate this thread every day. xxx the cake xxx
So sorry to hear about your cat. Please give some thought to rescuing another one.My dd found an abandoned litter just 5 weeks old and was told by RSPCA and CPL to leave them to take their chances as they had no room. She has 2 of them and a neighbor took the other two.The mum is still around and she is trying to catch her before it happens again. But as DD works , she will get no help with neutering the Mum.this is in Nottingham, but I am sure is as bad elsewhere.

So sorry about catto, the cake. I'm glad his last few weeks were full of cuddles though.

Elisa - one of the cats charities will neuter feral cats for free and then return them to the wild as it were, worth looking into, I also seem to think that the same one will loan a trap/crate to assist the catching. :)

yes my battery has conked out :D anything else, like the mess I made looking for boxes, will have to wait for tomorrow

I used a new lakeland goodie that arrived yesterday. They are really good, made from a strong rigid plastic and multi use and almost half price for a short while longer. I got dd`s a set each and they`ll love them

    http://www.lakeland.co.uk/14268/Grip-and-Mix-Bowl-Trio

They are tall and compact so are also perfect for children to play with in the bath and also for washing their hair. I used mine for baking today and am soooo glad I bought them

kemps wool came today, amazing lovely merino wool and at a bargain price. A jumper still works out quite pricey but that isn`t counting the hobby and longevity value of pure wool

Am furious at nhs, dh`s records of different tests have been lost at hospital and he had a letter saying `from memory` and just quoting bits from the original letter that dh wrote to his gp. If he wasn`t on the ball re this stuff then he would just be swept under the carpet and as it is he has now got to hassle gp to start the whole process again.

Today He met with a lovely 82 year old who is in terrible pain after knee op and just needs some tweaks. He has waited for months so far and is thinking of using his savings to get the job done. He is in absolute agony and it is so unfair that someone who has paid in from age 16 to 65 is getting bipassed like this :(

Thanks for that....dd rang over 20 places to try and find a home for the kittens and to get help with the mother but no luck. She already has 2 of her own and we have 2 ourselves but I can see us having more! DD was told that to have them humanely destroyed would be over 200 pounds so she decided to keep them.
