Sorry, didn't mean to be a downer about unions, definitely would be a different woman now.:p Power to the people! :T
Can anyone answer my question about terracotta and mould? I think you're skimming my posts, :rotfl:, you see my posts and think oh gawd, it's her!
I'm another one who thinks that sometimes Byatt. You aren't alone.
As for the terracotta, I used to have a large pot terracotta pot that I had to soak in water before using it. So I assume that it can absorb moisture from the enviroment. I wonder if putting some bicarb in it or some of those sillica packets you get in new shoes would help. If it isn't already dry then I think that wrapping it in plastic would just trap the moisture in. I can't say it's a problem I have ever encountered however. Hope that helps xxx0 -
Well, I never!! It is an absolute outrage.
Glossing over the fact that in my visit just now to MrM I got some teacakes for 9p, and 2 loaves of bread for 9p, I went to get some baby bath for the soap dispensers. When I last bought some - about a month ago - it was 11p for a bottle. No longer...
36p a bottle!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek:
what sort of rate of inflation is that?????

Thanks SDG, I think the thread moves so fast it's hard to keep up, so I do understand, I am just in a cheeky mood tonight. And no, a drop of whisky has not passed my lips. :rotfl:I read every post but then by the end forget what I wanted to say and to whom so end up saying nothing.
I found some info on mumsnet and someone uses them as damp catchers so I think I'll use the little dishes in the cupboards where the damp is. So you're spot on, they do absorb moisture, wish I'd known this before I suddenly decided I like terracotta. (all cheap from CS or the recycling centre, wonder if that's why there's so much out there, the damp thing).0 -
Byatt - have wandered to my kitchen cupboard and pulled my terracotta pots out (hardly ever use them) as I remembered I had an issue last time I used them - I assumed they hadnt been washed or dried properly then so was very careful when I put them away this time and even left them in oven overnight to dry - they seem ok at the moment so its definitely worth trying.0

Thanks Kidcat, I'll pop them in the oven. I love the look of them but they are quite high maintenance! Unlike me.0

ETA I had not read all the posts when I found the above...sorry...
I managed to find a reasonable yellow sticker item at Tesco's tonight possibly my first ever 500g of Lean Pork Mince normally £4 reduced to £1.60 might get two or three meals out of it.
In the slow cooker a variety of diced veg, I will make gravy later from the water and add some meatballs...probably could do it quicker in a pan on the hob, not sure why I didn't...still it hopefully won't use too much energy. I have enough raw veg diced for another night."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Behave you lotLove all your posts. You keep me sane
I couldn't answer your question Byatt but I wondered if you could clear varnish your pots to keep the damp out? Clear varnish works on my oak didning table to keep the kiddy spills out... same thing?
Yes I agree with Byatt, pics0
