Fuddle - its cheaper for part time workers, please join, its the only protection you will have in these hard times.

Am looking at bio bulbs as am definitely feeling down and tired all the time so am trying to give myself some oomph.

ETA - union membership usually has offers attached, we used to insure our house via OH union and it cost us half the normal amount elsewhere, they have represented OH after an accident at work too which was great, and his comes wih a free legal advice line which we have used for all sorts of little things. OHs union offers free money advice and free will writing too. And we got a small payment from them when he was off with his ankle for all that time (only about £50) but it really helped at the time.

EEEk! None of my crafting skills are great, only basic sewing and even more basic knitting though plan to improve when that old problem of finding more time is resolved. :D So how I am going to get a new life? I would like lots of turquoise in mine and definitely no wrinkled or grey wool/thread :rotfl:Could I maybe bake myself a new life?

How about cupcakes with turquoise sprinkles? :D I got some lovely Dr Oetker ones for DDs birthday cake fest. Think I have half a tub left!

Going to make a big pan of minestrone for tea tonight - cheating with bought bread though as not had chance to make any - just got back from feeding the vampires (giving blood!) and our parent support group - got a lovely new member who'd been given details by hospital so finally someone there has realised we exist - brilliant! Dropped most of the wedding invites off on the way back - taken me this long to get around to it - good job everyone knew the date already :o

Ginny - good luck with SW - make sure they really know how much you actually do as they are all to quick to tell you there is nothing they can do when there actually is.

Kidcat - that was a brilliant precis of the state of the nation. Well done pet, you should be Prime Minister! These eejits can't see that a posh school doesn't give you brains, they come from your genes and your experience of life.

PAH knows a lot about the biobulbs. I got 2 on her experience and they are fab. The light is a white light and against the yellowy glow of the other lights, it looks amazing. They also light up instantly instead of the waiting 10 minutes for the other energy bulbs. I got mine from Ama$on and haven't needed my SAD lamp yet (touch wood). I'm going to get more when I can afford it so all the lights have them.

edit, Fuddle, yes, join a union. Apart from anything else, you don't want to be different from everyone else and I believe it's a really big union so plenty of help if needed.

I've found GMB and Unison. Does it matter which one? My mam says GMB is what the miners would have used so I'm swayed with them as being more for the working class or is that just daft?

Fuddle as Byatt says I would go with the one the others are with - think of it this way if you join one alone and they call a strike, you would be the only one out, and if the other one calls one you would be the only one working, having to cross the picket lines -
