Grump away mardatha - sounds like you need to you poor love. Hoping you feel better really soon, in the meantime we don't mind grumping on this thread, it's what keeps us all sane(ish)!

Hello!
I've read all your posts about problems getting to hospitals or GPs.Friend of mine works for local community scheme called Dial a Ride-they help elderly or disabled people getting to hospital appointments etc.I think you have to register with such scheme but after you pay basically only petrol money and that's all-it is much cheaper that taxi.
HTH
My dad uses a similar local scheme in Lincs for his hospital appointments. Dad does drive but won't go further than a mile or so on a well known route (only to GP, church and supermarket). A minibus comes and collects him and Mum (as Dad can't hear very well even with hearing aids now so needs mum, also he gets very anxious on his own) and they pay a small fee to cover petrol. We are so grateful for the scheme, only downside is the waits to/from hospital can be very long and that's not easy if you have bowel problems like my dad.
Worth checking to see if a similar scheme for those affected.

What a handsome chap Docky is Lyn. I said to Alfie 'look doggy' he got all excited and thought it was a sign to help himself to my digestive for tea dunking :rotfl:
A little boy who has autism (whose SEN support worker talks down to him all the time and it really grinds me because she's doing the very job I used to, but badly  ) gave me a cuddle today, I was blown away and chuffed that little ones still liked me and trusted me
Anyway it doesn't matter, just a niggle and not at all relevant because I'm loving my job :j
I don't think I have anything OS to report today
Mar so sorry your health is getting you down and how bloomn' frustrating to have perfect health in the eyes of the medical tests. ME is awful0 -
mardatha, nothing helpful to add but really want to encourage you to be persistent. I know when Mum was first ill the Doctors gave the impression of - you're old what do you expect.
The thing is you are not old and the Doctor is paid to keep you well.
Keep going back, be a pain, take notes while you are in a consultation and if nothing is done ask for a second opinion.
I hope you get some answers soon.C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z Able Archer0 -

Happy to have you shorten my post Pops - I do waffle on a lot!
ginnyknit We don't eat lamb though, casseroles usually pork/chicken so am very grateful that you mentioned not to use these - would never have crossed my mind. We do like a vegetable casserole though (might find the receipe and post later - its easy, healthy, cheap and filling) so that should be fine to try.
SQ if anyone waffles it's me:p I do try not to change the meaning of anyone's post if I quote it.
As I ate my slow cooked chicken pieces quorn, sliced/diced turnip, carrot, leek, celery, onion, potato, parsnip, celery and gravy though seen as a casserole, I thought it is really more like a chunky soup. Or would be if it had vegetable stock rather than gravy but as I used the water from cooking the vegetables to make it in a way it had been made with a veg stock.
Most of the few hot meals I have seem to be casseroles most of the time."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

MAR - Is there another partner in the GP practice that you could see instead of your normal GP. Sometimes a different way of thinking can see a different route to check? Sorry you are feeling so low at the moment and sending lots of hugs and strength to help.
FUDDLE - Glad you are enjoying the job so much, it's lovely to hear you smile in what you write. Did Alfie dunk your biscuit before he ate it of was it a down in one job? You are an absolute star for sending us the how to, thank you so very much.Docky says fank yew anty Fuds, Ise famus now int I?

It's just the ME doing its thing but gets me angry why docs turn a blind eye and totally ignore it. If I was younger I'd have to work liek this and uts totally impossible.Bit put of by going to the doctor as have been a lot this year with various issues, which I think are all connected. He said that the stress of my job is basically making me ill and that I should quit my job - that's alright for him to say but life isn't that easy I'm afraid!
Bent down to put my socks on earlier and felt something 'go' in my back so now have a hot water bottle on it which seems to be doing the trick.
It's a nice sunny day here but very chilly, on the walk home from work last night I wore my gloves
I hope that you soon feel somewhat better Mar, I sometimes feel my symptoms have something in common with ME but my Dr says that getting tired is to be expected with kidney problems and a while back my bloods were playing up.
Not forgetting the strong medication I am on but the point you make in your post and also the one made in your post Emalou are so true...and its even more of a problem with the way the Government are hurting the genuinely ill and disadvantaged.
The other night I noticed the chill in the air and wished that I'd put something warmer on but it was too late to come home and change my coat or put a cardigan/jumper on. Luckily I had taken my new scrarfwith me(I haven't had/worn one for maybe 30 years)what a difference it made and I had some new thermal type gloves with me. It really made a difference when it was time to come home.
It's awful when a back goes...I hope that the HWB brings relief.
Popplewell - Window cleaning £4.50 - we have one of those extending poles which reach the upstairs windows and I think does an OK job - they cost less than a tenner - you'd soon be in profit - easy to use. jacxx.
Thank you Jackel for that suggestion, I once suggested getting something similar and was advised against it. I can't think why and I think it would do the trick. I don't think my windows get that dirty TBH, they might if I was in a city with a lot of traffic passing by. I really think it is worth investing in one especially if I can stay put. It might still be useful if it was a bungalow to avoid having to use pair of steps.

I went to see my 96year old manna last night I took her a shepareds pie for tea and came home with a full set of brand new still in the packet flannelette sheets
How lovely that you still have your nana and watch out for her and she does you...you really are lucky as you know already.SpikyHedgehog wrote: »I've switched to a new (and more legitimate looking  ) company. They charge £8.
But, it's £8 a month I'm now looking at cutting back on...
I said to DS1 earlier in the week (they were round Monday) that I'll leave it for now as they are reliable and do a good job. But if my hours at work don't pick up next year, that will be another thing to stop.
I do wonder if I should stop having them done as that is still £74 approx annually.
Lyn your dog Docky is lovely, I would love a companion like him but not knowing how my health will be and where I may end up and if I would be allowed a pet I suppose even if possible I better see how things pan out."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Thanks POPS - He's about as much fun as you can have with a dog and still stay legal!! He's my equal best pal along with He who knows, but not so obedient - mind you He who knows doesn't push me out of my armchair so he can sit in it either - think its equal for both. Cheers Lyn x.0
