Oh, I was given a really nice top the other day but it is white (nylon and spandex). Can anyone recommend a way of dying it to black? Is one brand of dye better than another? (black is much more my colour.:D)
:( I don't think you'll be able to home-dye this anything other than a murky light grey, TBH. Nylon is a petroleum product and is dyed as the filament is being drawn out and Spandex is a brand name for elastane (more commonly marketed by DuPont in Europe under it's brand name Lycra). You can't dye elastane either.

The white garment would probably take just enough colour to make it look like a dreadful laundry accident and never release it either. I would advise learning to love it as is, or donating it. Sorry.

Mrs LW what a cute doggie and never mind his big head, I came in 3 pages ago and was wondering why the thread had gone all "wide" and there was the culprit right at the end looking as if butter wouldn't melt, bless him!:D

Spent the day pootling about as not feeling brilliant but have had my wm develop an interestingly-horrible grinding sound. Think my ball-bearings have disintegrated. Well, they'll match the marbles I lost some time ago........:rotfl:More expense!

Was so traumatised I had to go buy chocolate and now have tea and chocolate to ease the strain.

Mar, I have sent you a PM just now.

Council pittance is likely to be worth having. Can you transfer the other sum? Worth asking? it might also be worth asking about making additional contributions although these are not as generous as in the past.

(Close ears if you get upset)

Death in service grant is usually several times yearly salary, so not to be sniffed at. You may need to nominate beneficiaries as this keeps it outside your estate.

Most of these schemes are funded by investments, so they can go up and down with the stock market but nothing like as badly as priviate ones cos the fees are not stripped out each year.

Thanks everybody for help and advice, I can talk now without biting anybody, but have booked a phone call to gp tomorrow to tell him how useless I think they've been.. quite looking forward to that actually:)
Not the leaky gas cylinder Ginny, it's outside and just leaked when he changed the cylinders over this morning, it was a bit rusty I think. Got a new one on now.

Mar it does make me wonder too as someone, else said, could the leaking gas bottle have been affecting you, it would make your ME worse ?? Hope you pick up soon xx

I have a Carbon Monoxide detector if you don't have one and want a lend? But I imagine that if the gas is fixed now it wouldn't pick anything up and perhaps RV would have been feeling poorly too if it was CM poisoning .
You know where I am if you need delivery of anything (chocolate for example:p).

Have been missing last few days and haven't caught up with all the posts but hope you are all well. I'm definitely enjoying the clear skies lately - it really lightens my mood.

Oh Mar am so sorry you are feeling so poorly still, I have a spare co2 monitor you are welcome if you would like - let me know and I can pop it in the post. (We received a few from the house builder last week and only need one)

Ginny - am really pleased all went well yesterday

And now my mind has gone blank - I have been reading on my phone whilst out and about

I have been really busy last few days but really feel I have achieved stuff, got DD driving licence application all sorted and sent, DS bank account done and loads of bits of stuff I have been putting off. Havent been in the house for more than 15 minutes for past two days though.

Even busier tomorrow as am booked to be in four places at once - DD17 has doctor appointment, DS14 needs to be in his group, DS8 has an eye test and I am supposed to be in my group meeting!! Obviously I am going to have to race between dropping people off and getting DS eyes tested popping into group for half an hour if I can manage.

Car still not right but am ignoring it until the weekend as I really cannot fit any more into the week than I have on my plate.
Am taking DD to trafford centre after school tomorrow to source a party dress for next week - just praying we find something as there is no further time available with all the other things on. Still need to buy her some presents for Monday!!!
  • GQ - The only reason the butter wouldn't melt in his mouth is because he'd already have swallowed it and looked pleadingly for more- little rat!!!!! But we luvs him anyway, Cheers Lyn xxx.

I am so very sorry for putting a curse on your gas bottle. I'm not a witch really, although my ex might disagree! I wouldn't wish a lack of gas for morning tea on anyone. What I would say is that if you only ordered your bottle this morning and it has already arrived then you are luckier than I would be. We have the joy of a delivery on a Tuesday only, so if you lost your bottle on Monday night then you have a whole week to wait for supplies. I hope you are soon feeling a bit better - if they would only work out what to do.

Meanwhile, I am delighted to report that this evening I found a man with a spanner! He came round looking all important, clutching his spanner before him, and then found he didn't need a spanner at all!! I have a connection where there is a tap-type thing to turn. Once I persuaded him to stop turning it the wrong way, it came off relatively easily - as long as you have enough brute force (which I don't).

I'm now "cooking with gas", although will check later just to be doubly sure there is no leakage. Like yours, mine is outside and it is blowing a modest gale outside (as ever) and I gave it a squirt of the special leak-detector spray that I was left and there are no bubbles.

The kettle is on and will soon be whistling and I may treat myself to a choccy biccie to celebrate the return to normality.

Loved the photo of your dear boy Mrs LW, although sadly my education is lacking and I don't speak doggie. I do a good fishwife though when my naughty tortie cat gets spooked and wrecks the house.
