Hello All-Sorry to hear so many of you are poorly-hope you all feel better soon. Also those of you who have poorly husbands and children-my good wishes to you all.
Mar - do you need a special cooker to cook with calor ? We have no gas , have an oil range which is fab. in winter but gets the kitchen so hot in summer- I'd love a gas stove(got a leccy one but can't stand them)
Popplewell - Window cleaning £4.50 - we have one of those extending poles which reach the upstairs windows and I think does an OK job - they cost less than a tenner - you'd soon be in profit - easy to use. jacxx.

You can get special stoves, but many of the standard stoves have an LPG conversion kit available - basically a new set of smaller jets, so its quite feasible to get a second hand natural gas cooker converted.

Thank you for that, Jackel - I keep looking at those extending poles but wondering how good they really are...

We used to have a chap who came round if he felt like it & cleaned the windows for a tenner, but only if the weather was right (ie, not too cold for him, or too hot, or too sunny, or too cloudy...), so I've switched to a new (and more legitimate looking  ) company. They charge £8 for the windows & glazed doors at the front & back, and don't crush my plants in front of the sitting room window the way the decorators from the housing association did, and do do the windows whether we're in or not. It's been 3 months sometimes before we've caught each other for me to pay them, and they're not bothered.

But, it's £8 a month I'm now looking at cutting back on...

I said to DS1 earlier in the week (they were round Monday) that I'll leave it for now as they are reliable and do a good job. But if my hours at work don't pick up next year, that will be another thing to stop.

    Hello!
I've read all your posts about problems getting to hospitals or GPs.Friend of mine works for local community scheme called Dial a Ride-they help elderly or disabled people getting to hospital appointments etc.I think you have to register with such scheme but after you pay basically only petrol money and that's all-it is much cheaper that taxi.

  • Hi everyone.
((((Hugs)))) to all that aren't well, feeling down or just want one. And ear tickles to all the doggies on the thread.
Have been out for a nice long walk with my two dogs, lovely and sunny but cold. Still the sunshine always makes me feel a bit more motivated. They are now passed out on their beds snoring.

I will be spending the afternoon running around after the men in my life! My OH has rang to say he will need a lift back from the other side of town after he has finished his postal delivery as he has lost the key to unlock the work pushbike. And then my brother has just moved house (he lives about 8 mile away) wants me to pick up a fridge freezer he has bought cheap off Ebay over in the next town. I don't mind though, we are always looking out for each other and he does't drive. He also needs a hand putting some furniture together as he is hopeless with anything practical.
Am making the most of the sunshine, my doormats are in the washer, will hopefully get them at least half dry on the line today.

Oh, I was given a really nice top the other day but it is white (nylon and spandex). Can anyone recommend a way of dying it to black? Is one brand of dye better than another? (black is much more my colour.:D)

Docky - It sounds very much as if your mummy is made out of putty too, but don't worry, it's a perfectly normal state of affairs for mummies of cute goggies and nothing you need to worry about. If she's a bit wobbly sometimes though I assume you lean nicely against her leg to help out?

Lots of ear scratches - love Stiltwalker X
