Hi Emmalou, how awful for you. Be good to yourself - it is early days yet.

    Possession - baby steps, maybe?
Fuddle - glad you got on OK, you will be tired tonight

I have been juggling money this morning - injecting cash into our current account to pay some hefty bills. The decorator has stripped the walls - unfortunately half the plaster has come off (as we feared) so the bill is going up as we now have to pay for a plasterer to come and redo the walls. We expected it and it is one reason why we didn't attempt it ourselves. Trouble is we have to take 2 radiators off the wall - i have youtubed it and it looks straight forward  Famous last words

I have defrosted the remains of last weeks beef casserole to recycle into chilli tonight. THere was about 1 1/2 portions so with a tin of beans and a tin of toms it should do 3 of us. Last night's chicken carcass is boiling up for stock and i am going to make a stew for tomorrows tea. It always tastes better the day after - n'est ce pas?

I bought a nice hoodie from a CS today - £3.50. It is a nice "in between weather" top - not too hot and not too cold. Made up for having to buy DS a new tie for school as someone nicked the last one. They have stupid clip on ties which can be flipped off with a flick of a wrist - they seem to think it funny but at £6.95 a go, I ain't laughing. I also stocked up on Shampoo from the pound shop and bought some halloween sweeties. I am not that keen on Halloween but if someone comes to the door I wouldn't turn them away. Luckily we don't get many as we live in a cul de sac and people tend to walk right past.

Ho hum - I'd better look like I've done something as OH is due home in 20 minutes.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

One room at a time Possession. Clear just one space a day. It will overwhelm you if you think of the house as a whole and you'll never feel like getting going.

Hope you feel better soon. I'm laid up in bed right now. I hurt too. DH is coming home in 1 hour and it feels like so long away. I'm going to have a night in bed, something I never do but I cannot possibly ring in sick on my second day! I have to get better.

    Thank you :)

It's quite cold and dreary here today - that big black cloud isn't looking good either, should make the walk home from work interesting ;) I'll be able to warm up at home with cups of tea and blankets.

What is everyones thought on microwaves? We currently don't have one due to lack of space in a tiny flat, but we are hoping to move in the next couple of weeks into a rented house - with a seperate kitchen and a lot more work space to put one.

Possession take care of yourself, it's never nice to feel under the weather. I've been very lucky and can't remember the last time we got a bug or a cough/cold etc.

    Welcome emalou :)

I have a microwave and do use it but it's something I could live without. When it goes kaput I won't be in a hurry to replace it, if at all really. I could use the hob just as well

Hope you feel better soon Fuddle. ((hugs))
Emalou welcome! I use our microwave quite a lot, whether it's to warm some milk or hot chocolate, warm up some leftovers, make porridge or even make a microwave pud. We probably use it most days.
  • Hi FUDDLE glad you enjoyed your day at work and it comes as no surprise that the kids loved you, pleased for you and you just fitted in yes? Hope the headache has gone away by now. You'll enjoy it more tomorrow as you know the ropes now.

BYATT - I had a terribly naughty thought, if you didn't move the fish - Bouillabaise? Aren't you nice giving your TV to someone who needs it, you deserve that double yoker!!

EMMALOU - come on in and join us, we're always glad to have new aquaintances in here it's nice to have you aboard. So sorry to hear about your poor Dad , hope you are coming to terms with the situation now.

Hope all of us feeling poorly are now feeling better and that the sun is shining for you (it is down here and it's such a mood changer). Actually got the afternoon walk with the lurcher and his pal in the dry today and it got warm to the point of having to take my jacket off!!!! Phew!!! Take care all of you Cheers Lyn x.

Microwave.....well ours died about two months ago, I decided we could live without it but then kept finding myself trying to melt a bit of butter or some chocolate... totally forgot that I used it to defrost things too...but the real crunch came when I realised I couldn't heat my wheat bag!!

Needless to say I have one now :D

Well I'm slowly catching up with you guys but boy the thread moves fast .
I'm doing all I can this month to make it a no debt month aka zero carbon lol
Picked up 2 night shifts did one yesterday which was nice and local however tonight is a different matter . It's 70 miles away:eek: fortunately I do get paid a bit to mileage tho it won't cover it completely . I traded my petrol car in for a transit van as I have a few dogs that have thru showing contributed to the debt mountain.
I have enough in the fridge and freezer that the only thing I need to buy is milk . I d found if I freeze it first that it lasts longer too- result
Only down side there is when I'm tired I get forgetful and I have a counter surfer of a dog who has snaffled 1/2 tub of garlic Philly and 1/2 tub of marge . To keep to a no spend day made damper bread with marge flour and water( googled recipe) and its lasted 4 days keeping it in the fridge .
Pleased that things are looking better
Had van booked into garage for service which was going to cost £200 but I give a guy at work a lift sometimes and his mate is going to do it for me for the cost of the parts . Going there tomorrow so keep fingers crossed that it doesn't cost me a fortune
Sorry for the long post . Got to get ready for work and will drop van off when I finish in the morning . Going to have to get taxi from the mechanics as too far away to walk so won't be a no spend day tomorrow
    Oh well.......
    Date restarted DFW 30/04/16
    Money owed :-
    Vet £700
DMP too much ( need to find out how much )
    That's it
