I bought Vit D today - I am 15 miles above Brum so definitely don't get enough
I think it made a difference last year so decided to do it again. I can feel myself getting the winter blues already - the thought of 6 months till any glimpse of summer
Mar - is it 3000mu you take? Mine are 1000 each which seemed to be the max they do. Not cheap though.
Haha... try another 280miles for me:p I got 2000ui from Cost-co today, 600 for just under £5 if that helps. My FIL takes double this amount. I wont say anymore, I don't want to be seen to be giving medical advice but please look in to it for yourself or ask doctor (who have all been sent letters about the importance of Vit D)."A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others" Barnyard the children's film.

My prescription vit D is much lower strength than that. How stupid. : (
If your levels are so low that it's actually tested and prescribed, why not give out decent strength tablets?!0 -
Welcome Emalou, im sure you will enjoy this thread and all the friendly advise given.....:D0

I can't believe what has just happened! The house we rent is a semi detached. My neighbour is lovely, an elderly couple. I've been tellng her my difficulty with damp patches and mouldy growth and that the LL has not been very proactive in acting, especially when I asked if he could clear the guttering.
She's caught me there before to say that she's been on to LL about the state of their guttering, that they are going to get theirs replaced and would he like to share the cost and get ours replaced too. He's said yes! Hopefully this will go someway with the damp.0 -
Re vit D - we take 2400iu and have for a couple of years now. I get tested every 6 months to make sure I don't go too high. The worrying thing is that when I started, the doc said I was "fine ...and after 2 years+ of 2400iu a day he's still saying my levels are "fine" !! I don't get colds now and only got flu once at the height of the H1N1 outbreak and I was fine again after a week..usually I take flu really badly and it lasts for 5 weeks.0

Good news Fuddle. And after all, your LL was pretty reasonable about you setting up as a childminder so maybe he's not as bad as he could be, after allIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

He was lovely in letting us rent here in the first place, given our circumstances. He can be lovely to talk to but when there's a risk of him having to spend money on the house he changes and it's not at all pleasant talking to him. He let us get Alfie too so not at all unreasonable if he can keep his wallet closed.0

Ginny - hope all goes well tomorrow
Possession - I know how you feel, its like that here to, I have however taken the idea that we do what we can and the rest has to wait. Had a little more energy today though and managed to blitz attack the kitchen and dining room and gone a good way to bringing living room under control too.
Fuddle - lovely news, what a lovely neighbour
Our microwave is actually six years old now, previously we never had one last longer than 18months, we learnt early on to take the Arg*s insurance and then it only cost us the price of a new insurance each time it broke. We are now out of insurance period so next time its going to be a big hit for us.
Car is still sick, no idea what it is, but OH broke down on way home from garage, we got it going again but it now has surging revs so will need looking at again. Means my dad has to take OH to work as it was way too late to hire a car.0 -
Ginny wishing OH all the best for tomorrow and not forgetting you

Evening all.
I'm pie-eyed with tiredness but will manage to watch another of the DVD rentals I have from the library. I've had a splitting headache since about 11 am this morning, and it's only just lifted.
(((((((((emalou)))))))))) that's a bitterly hard blow to lose your Dad like that. Pull up a virtual chair, grab a cuppa and hang with the Toughies. But, ginnyknit was quite right to warn you about reading whilst sipping; there have been many of us accidentally spitting up over keyboards and monitors.
I went to work and came home again. I slew and half-consumed one of the FB pie mountain and have eaten it with lottie grown veggies and shop-carrots.:o My bucket list for this incarnation includes, but well down the rankings, Grow a Decent Carrot. The old boys on my lottie site, some of whom have been gardening there for 50 years and their old Dads before them, say No one can grow a decent carrot on here! as if stating a universal truth.
I want to be the first. I could happily eat carrots every day and often do so, but alas these were Super 6.
Re Microwaves, I was given one a few years ago and gave it away about a year back. I did use it, but not enough to justify the counter space in the titchy kitch. If I had more room I would have one again but I'm managing just fine.
Alrighty, need to chill out with some eyecandy on the DVD
drive........wothisname who plays Eric in True Blood? Sigh.
Have a good evening and I am soooo envious of those who have a kitten or kittens to snuggle with. Adorable critters.
