So many good posts on here that are fair it's best if I say I agree with them rather than try comment specifically on various points but for anyone reading this a few pages on I'll link back to the posts so they can be read by anyone reading later...

Primark have childrens PJ's for £5 again. Very fluffy these ones are and good to see some cheaper as the cheapest I could see a few weeks back were £8. Very happy there.

Also Alfie's nail clipping normally costs us £10 at the vets. I have done it myself today so that's been a saving. I should say that his nails don't grow long because he isn't walked (he is!) it's just that I take him over the fields in the mud (he's in his element sniffing) as opposed to walking the abrasive paths. So another DIY lesson learned that will cost us zilch. :)

Having the bean enchiladas a cauli cheese tonight :rotfl: DH isn't happy. :D

EVOO cleaning method. I've been doing it for about 3 months and will never go back. I just wondered if the olive oil takes off waterproof mascara? I thought it might be sensible to replace mine when it's ran out with the waterproof stuff as I have it on my brows :rotfl:

For anyone that is the North and Yorkshire areas we have a chain of stores(Boyes)they are some good bragains(mainly house hold items)they still have a sale but yesterday they had some items clotheswise for men(I assume)for women too at great prices especially on thermals(underwear/socks)scarves, gloves, PJ's etc...even some waterprooves actually cheaper than Aldi/Lidl.

BTW Fuddle, though I would not have though the demand was at the branch on my town, what a lot of fishing gear inside. As far as I can see they have just about everything that would be needed and I assume they are selling that at reasonable prices.
I am reading but at moment not sure where my life is going to take me and so not going to bore anyone, but here is anyone needs me

Hugs and Love to all xxx

  • Although I'm an old fogey now :o I still like to keep up with fashion and was fascinated when I saw eyebrows coming back in a few months ago. I wear eye makeup if going out because I need thick glasses, and cant wear contacts any more. My eyebrows are very pale as becoming grey like my hair. I think I've figured it - I use browny/beigey eye shadow and put it on with the eye shadow brush, just a swift broad line. It gives the right effect, and comes off easily with baby wipe or in the shower, and after doing this for a week or so, eyebrows seem to be absorbing the colour.

Mascara makes the brows too dark, with my hair getting lighter as all the grey ones take over.

I'm baking hubby a Weightwatchers fruit loaf at present, the fruit should be filling for him. Thanks for the savory ideas, I'll try them after next shopping trip. Little savory tarts sound delish. I found a recipe for cheese on toast, where you spread the bread with chutney instead of butter before grilling, we had that for lunch and it was gorgeous- used last years chilli chutney.

Its getting a bit windy and cold here, although bright and sunny today. Harvest festival at church tomorrow, we're collecting for a local food bank, so hope we get lots.

Kidcat - sorry your birthday was lousy x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • PAH - Here everyone needs you!!!!!

KIDKAT - Happy Birthday belatedly for yesterday, hope you are starting to feel better today!

Busy day chez lurchers today, got up this morning to find that the perishing roe deer (we have many living in the area) had eaten the flowers off 4 dozen pansy plants we got yesterday. We've planted them in the window boxes and big plant pots but goodness knows what colours they'll be, all I've got is tufts of little green leaves. All will become clear in time I suppose. Took cuttings from all the geraniums we had in pots and they are now in the cooler greenhouse hopefully rooting. Lifted and put into box of sand the dahlia tubers as they have finished flowering and planted up in pots lots of hyacinth and narcissus bulbs that have been in the shed for the summer. Also harvested my coriander plants which have many, many seeds on to dry off then grind up to use this winter. He who knows has been busy too restoring a wooden garden set that a nice neighbour has donated to DD1 for her new garden, it's weathered to a lovely soft grey and just needed a little TLC. Will deliver it to her in the not too distant future.

We are having liver and bacon casserole for supper tonight, I got 2 lovely big pieces of lambs liver from the butchery counter at Mr.t yesterday for 59p and the bacon is some of their cooking bacon at 99p a pack, with some homegrown veg and then crumble for pud with the last of the home blackberries and some drop apples - very thrifty but none the worse for that! Cheers Lyn x.

Thanks - I expect it I do, but then each year things just seem to spiral downwards. :D Never mind onwards and upwards.

Todays disaster is the car, OH decided it needed fixing replaced part, car wont start, havent got old part to put on as he left it behind when he bought replacement. Two hours later still not starting, he tries jump starting it - I point out its throwing petrol all over the place, he tries to mess more. I call my dad and beg, leave to shop, come home to find more car all over drive, Dad diagnosing more issues.
Two hours later nieghbour comes out to help (actually this is a good point - he was really nice) they try pushing it, pulling it etc - I point out its still throwing petrol.

One hour later I suggest again RAC and eventually they agree.

RAC man comes out looks and says he wont even look at it!

On the plus side its taken OH mind off the issue of his family contacting him out of the blue with their usual bile and evil.
Their timing as ever is impecabble and very much deliberate :)

Finally managed some shopping and am stunned at price rises just since I was last there, the Mr T weetabix has gone up from 69p to 84p in less than a week.

Sorry I missed your birthday kidcat. Happy Birthday :bdaycake:

You'll enjoy it all the more for the thrift MrsL. ;)

Bean enchilads browning off. I've been told not to do the cauli cheese as he'll just endure the no meat version of one of his fav's. I think it's going to be just fine as I've doused with mature cheddar and jelapenos http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1111640/bean-enchiladas

Off for some HM pampering after my tea with honey/sugar face scrub and egg yolk/olive oil hair mask. Then i'll chill out on my bed with my twinkly lights on with a glass of raisin and rice wine. (the blackberry wine is coming along very nicely too)

Mrs C you are motivating me, so any more tips, hints and so on about LC are welcome. It's worked for me too, in the past. I love carbs, that's my problem, but I definitely need to lose weight, but work it around a low income, such as in season veg.

I currently have pain in my knee from a break years ago, so one way t o improve it would be to lose the weight!! Why is it so hard? I know what to do, just don't do it.

PAH, hugs...I'm sorry life is rough right now...you don't deserve it. :A

Belated Happy Birthday, Kidcat...sorry it was so horrible. You don't deserve it either. :A
