  • FUDDLE if DH doesn't want his can I come? Sounds lovely to me, I could trade him some liver and bacon for it!!! Cheers Lyn xxx. P.S. He who knows is off down the hostelry for a little bit of dutch comfort, he's worked his little socks off today so deserves a treat, he even managed to leave the lurcher behind, quite a feat as we can't normally get him past the pub without him trying to go in - NOT that we spend all day in normally he just likes Uncle Garry the landlord!!!!!!! (the lurcher that is, wouldn't like there to be any misunderstandings!!! L xxx.
  • Pops some news to interest you, though it's not general knowledge yet. Planned opening date for Ald* is November 8th.

Makes sense, as it's a Thursday ( for Thursday specials) . Some staff are moving from B.A. store as well as new local recruits, so we will have plenty of experienced hands. That's good, as I imagine the store will be very, very busy.

Unfortunately for me and the trike, I think the bike racks will be at the far end of the car park and not near the store. I can manage heavy bags fine, lifting is no problem, but I now can't walk without my stick in one hand. I may go when the store is quiet, park nearer the door and hope the staff understand. DD says this happens at the BA store.

    Evening all

Kidcat. - happy birthday for yesterday

I'd love to go low carb but I've got PCOS and turn into a hormone fueled monster without them.

Had a lovely pub lunch with in-laws, their treat, which always makes it taste nicer. They're great company too so always nice to see them. Haven't cooked this evening as we're still full from lunch and both DDs have been out with friends all day and are eating out.

Did a meter reading and thanks to the solar panels we've only used £1.17 worth of electric this quarter :T. Gas usage was low too so now £200 in credit :j. I love it when a plan comes together!

Those tins of chocs were flying out of the Tesco we were in today. They were at £4. The first year I havent bought. Saw some Advent calendars for dogs today, now they got me excited... a bite raw hide for Alfie everyday :) I am going to make my own somehow, plus the girls want me to crochet the dog a stocking. Last year I crocheted some holly and berries and tied them on his collar.

MrsL DH is the most fussiest bliddy man in the world. He doesn't like anything, he wouldn't eat liver either. It's annoying! He liked, get this, liked, the bean enchiladas but picked all the beans out making sure that I knew they were poisonous if they weren't cooked properly. I'm going to do them again next month but use lentils instead and fill out with peppers. I wish he would go to the pub :rotfl:

Actually, we have 3 pubs in the village and we've never been to any of them. I'm a bit scared because it's bad enough walking past the Coop  Oh, to live in a nicer area where yoou could pop down to the local. I'd head down there with my wellies on in non serious power cuts.

Edited: forgot to say that for the trick or treaters this year I'm taking a leaf out of MrsL's book.. little cakes and bicuits made by moi. :)
  • Oh no he isn't FUDDLE - I've got that one, he even has been known to complain there's a bone in a T bone steak!!!!!!!!!!!!! beat that if you can! Cheers Lyn xxx.

Luckily we managed to get the panels on one of the free deals, we don't make any revenue from them but we can use as much as we can generate. It would of cost £22k to buy them which was out of the question.

Mrs Chip, the Low Carb adviser, how ironic :rotfl:.

I will admit that I would find Lcing a lot harder on our now reduced budget, as I used to have a lot of meat, cheese and fish.

Having said that, if you are not too fussy about what you eat there is plenty you can do.

One of the most delicious things I used to to make was a pasta bake.
I used to buy Dreamfields LC pasta online, it is delicious but expensive. Boots used to do a L pasta which was ok.

Anyway to make the bake I would fry off 250g minced beef or lamb and add to a couple of fried and sliced leeks with a couple of crushed garlic cloves. I added a can of chopped toms (if you look around you can find them about 2 -2.5 carbs per 100g) and sundried tom paste and dried herbs and simmer until done, much like chilli or cottage pie mix. Cook the pasta off till just underdone and mix or layer with the meat. I would use mayo to add a layer like lasanga sauce, or put it in in blobs. (remember on LC fat is good). Ditto with grated cheese - it was very freeform! cheese on the top and bake in oven . I had it with salad, and it did me several meals. You can add any spices or herbs or lc veg as you fancy, and if you cant get the pasta then layers of fried aubergine or courgette would be fine.

I also use to sir fry a lot of veg, particularly shredded sprouts and cabbage, as this gave them a different dimension. I made bubble and squeak replacing the potato with mashed swede. Mushrooms are LC and great fried with butter and garlic, very tasty.

To be honest, main meals were fairly easy for me as I love all the things you can have on L and am not so bothered about potatoes, rice bread etc. What was hard was being out and about as finding LC on the hoof was a bit harder. It meant that more planning was needed for packed lunches etc.

Fuddle - add my one to the list of bliddy fussy boogers! Mine picks the kidney beans out of chilli  But to be fair he eats an awful lot more now than he did when we first married, but he still won't eat beetroot, cause he was forced to eat it in primary school and it made him sick in the bath :rotfl:.

Mrs C, the irony was not lost on me! It must be so hard for you or do you get sick of chips?! :rotfl:

Actually on pondering the idea I might sell my tv. Not sure what I'd get need to check fleabay, but having the laptop means I can watch lots on here, plus it will give me more room and also no licence to get (I know I have to watch tv progs after the event, not during.) It's about 5 years old, so may not be that valuable...:o

It also means I can reorganise my little room so I'm facing the log burner, not away from it.

edit, one of the things I used to do for LC when I couldn't make a bread sandwich was use large lettuce leaves, put filling inside and roll or fold it. Very tasty.
