My CRB check has come through! I can start my job in the next few days.
I'm very excited but nervous, although I shouldn't be as I know most of the staff and layout of the school already so part of the learning curve sussed.
Also I wanted to ask did anyone watch Kevin McCloud's hand made home on C4 last night? I thoroughly enjoyed it and love the idea of a quiet hideaway off grid. I'm not sure about making fuel out of excrement though. So interesting. I'm having shed dreams now.
But your "friend"- OMG, whatever would she say to someone she didn't like?! Appalling, appalling woman. It's very cruel and ignorant to swank. Life has a habit of turning apparent good fortune on it's head, and there is many a c0cky emigree who has slunk back home sadder, wiser and poorer.
As Miguel Cervantes had it; Wouldn't it be better to stay peacefully at home, and not roam the world seeking better bread than is made of wheat, never considering that many go for wool and come back shorn?
You've got the attitude and determination to make a settled life and including owning your own home, and are young enough achieve all that. Don't let rude mares drag you down.
All is well at the homestead except I'm tired and slightly-chilly but a cuppa will fix that soon enough. ((hugs)) to anyone who needs one. GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

(Jumping off the lurkers' bus for a minute)
Just to add to the comments re Fuddle's emigrating friend(?) - we have relatives living out in Oz in a suburb of Sydney. The cost of living has skyrocketed in recent years, there are troubles between the different racial groups out there and drugs, alcohol addiction and gambling are big problems in some areas. Maybe not much different to our green and pleasant land, but it goes to show that Australia is not guaranteed to be the land of milk and honey. I believe a good life can be had out there if you work for it, but it doesn't get handed to you on a plate. Time will tell if things work out for this person. One life - your life - live it!0 -
Don't you just hate it when you take the time and trouble to buy and post off 2 birthday presents and christmas presents each year to a niece and nephew (nearly 7 and very nearly 3) and the ignorant parents never even bother to acknowledge that the parcel arrived, never mind thank you for it. OH says why should the children suffer for the ignorance of his brother and SIL but it really annoys me.
Weeks later I end up asking on facebook whether the parcels arrive and all she says is "oh yes!, I should have let you know, sorry" but still never a thank you.
Grrrrrrrr ......... moan over
Hope everyone's ok on this awful cold, wet and windy day...omg it's so damp everywhere, feel quite chilled.
OH working on the buses til 930 so won't be in much before 10pm, early night with a nice hottie for me I think.0 -
VJsMum - How about a mushroom pate, would also say smoked mackerel pate but that definitely come under the heading of smelly! Maybe a slice of quiche for a change - can be done without onions so not smelly. Slices of cold nut loaf would also be good on a butty or I have been known to have stuffing sandwiches. (no meat) I'm happy with just paxo but there are some really interesting stuffings about either recipes or packet mix and if they have some nuts in she's getting the protein element. Another favourite sandwich filling here is the fetchingly titled 'gunge' it's just grated cheese and mayo with finely diced cucumber, tomato, pepper and (for us) onion - yummy, I'm making myself hungry now.
Fantastic progress today, DS did supported standing :j:j:j He was holding onto my hands and briefly just using me for balance before collapsing onto his bum. He's really having a progress lump at the moment -Both kids have a tendency to do things in lumps, slowly slowly slowly for ages then a big jump forward in the space of a week. Happy little mummy here tonight.0 -
well done Master stiltwalker0

Evening all
I have read but my brain is having a major "brain fart" moment so a generic hug to all in need and a kick up the bottom to all who want (whatever floats your boat)
Still no sign of moggy, we've all decided now that he's gone to live with a lovely new family and is lording it up with no kittens annoying him (well the alternative scenarios are just to upsetting to consider). Our longhaired girl kitten has been very cuddly and snuggly today, it's like being smothered in candy floss when she crawls up to your neck and throws herself into your arms, belly up and purrs until she squeaks.
DH had his 5th appointment letter through from @tos, each time he phones to ask if they'll have the recording equipment there, they say no, cancel the appointment and the computer generates a new appointment. They say there's no way round it and just to keep cancelling the appointments until they have the equipment. Cost effective company eh?
Brought myself a smaller SC today, it's got a metal crock-pot that you can use on the hob and then transfer into the base unit - fab idea :T
Phoned t@x credlts last week with a change of figures and they sent a new notice out today wi payments starting on Friday, the quickest I've ever had a reply from them, I was almost impressed."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

DD6 all packed and ready to go, I have also packed stuff for the car ready, bucket plastic seat covers, toilet roll water etc for when I get called out in the middle of the night to collect her - because I will, its always my kids0 -
To be honest my tummy has been fine the last few days. I might look into meat and IBS because I haven't had any meat for a couple of days.
Butting in againI find that sometimes processed meats like ham, bacon, salami etc can affect my ibs so try to steer clear as much as possible.

Well done little mr stiltwalker
Kidcat, I hope not, not in this weather. Fingers crossed.
I'm watching Nigella. I can't help but love the easiness of Italian cooking. Anyway, she made chips in oil just in a saucepan.
Can I do that? I always thought I needed a deep fat fryer to make chips at home. What oil would I use?
Not butting in lilmisskitcat. It's interesting. I wonder though, that my diet sheet isn't going to be any thing like it normally is for the dietician.
