I've had one cup of tea in the last 48 hours. I am longing for Earl Grey and it tastes terrible0

VJsMUM - Does DD like peanut butter? you could ring the changes with that as a base :- Peanut butter and Banana, Peanut butter and tomato, Peanut butter and Marmite are all nice and stay moist in a sandwich. Would she like Lentil Pate? again that can be teamed up with crispy leaves or cucumber and tomato - none of them smelly and all of them tasty, Hope that helps, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

SDG - why does it taste terrible? I must admit I only drink Earl Grey tea now, I just find the other ones not at all nice, but then I only have one cup a day so I reason one box will last me three months at least, so not too extravagant. I still buy the other stuff for guests as most people seem to prefer normal stuff.0

Well would you believe it! It looks like red meat is a trigger for IBS. I haven't had any meat since the freezer died on Thursday and my tummy has been all right too.
It might just be that too many minced beef meals is what is causing it.
Teatotal MrsL I don't know about one brain cell but you're pretty quick
Oh, another thing. Alfie has taken to foraging too. He eats the blackberries. I try to stop him by throwing his ball to distract him while I pick a few. Will a couple hurt him?0 -
The student version of these sounds like a good frugal stocking filler for all your teens:

kidcat it tastes terrible as I have a stinking cold. I normally have two cups of Assam in the morning and one or two cups of Earl Grey in the afternoon. The caffeine withdrawl symptoms aren't pretty lol. I hope your DS feels better very soon. I agree you should be called Wonder Woman.
DH is attempting to make dinner so we are having pancakes. I've told him he needs to make some savoury ones and not just sweet ones. Although the thought of ones filled with custard and strawberries in dark syrup is appealing. Thank goodness for St Delia's easy to follow recipes and ready made custard.0 -
Oh SDG hope you are better soon - am now craving pancakes!! And not savoury ones either0

I do know my views are not in the majority though. People all around me think it's terrible that if you own your own home you have to sell it to pay for old age care when those who have nothing get it paid for. I don't understand their views and they don't tend to get where I come from.I am on the fence about this one fuddle, I suppose the opposite argument is that some people work hard all their lives and manage to buy a house outright when they need care it has to be sold to pay for care, whereas some people never work live in council property and never pay rent, if they need care its all paid for.
But if we paid for everyones care where would we be?
All valid points, I don't think there is a right answer, the point is how much more can parents do for their chilldren do they ever stop caring.
And their savings and pensions keep getting whittled away.
I think it was Sheergar who explained the goalposts have been moved and I do wonder as she said "Will we see fewer home owners" either through choice or cirumstance.
In a way everything we have even if you own property in a way it is still only temporary just as our possessions are. We either give them away, sell them or they have to be sorted out by others when we go into a home or leave this world.
Am I right? I heard that in mainland Europe people rent more than buy.
VJ's Mum That other idea does sound like National Insurance
they just keep finding ways to ask for a little more...
I don't have the answers not sure our leaders have...enough politics;)
When I was out earlier it was really horrible a really icy wind and driving wind. More of the same tomorrow.
