Hello new lurkers intro-ing!
Good news Fuddle what's your pinny like?
Pops hope you have got some helpfull advice on possible gout. BiL has had it for a few months, not nice at all.
Speech Therapist gave me some more exercises to do, voice not bad at present but tends to get wobbly or disappear if I have hay fever or cold, which seems to happen a lot - just had a terrible hay fever season this year. It can be awkward as hubby is deaf, so I often have to deal with telephone calls or people in shops... really embarassing as everyone is in a hurry these days as working to quotas. Still, now I have an excuse for lying on the floor every afternoon - doing long 'breath out...and out...and out...' exercises.
Had an OS squirrel visit this morning, he climbed onto bench and peeped in the window at hubby, before rushing off to scavenge cob nuts. Little did he know, hubby collected a bucket full last night, so Squidgy squirrel will only get the very top ones!0 -
Hi Peony, welcome to the gang!
Well done and congrats Fuddle - so pleased it's worked out!
Been busy cooking today for the weekend 'do'.
I have to do a dressed salmon. I got the salmon a couple of weeks ago from Mr T when they were half price and ordered their loan fish kettle - which upon collection today seems suitable for poaching a large sardine :rotfl:. I am going to have to cut the poor fish in half and poach each bit separately then cover the join with cucumber!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Welcome peony
Byatt I think a dinner ladies is a person who dishes out the meals where as a dinner nanny is a person who looks after the children while they eat/play... I'm officially a dinner nanny:j
I can't start till my CRB check is through though, which could be anything from a couple of weeks to a couple of months. Sooner the better... and guess what, it's right up my street - I have to wear a pinny:j
Well done :T hope the CRB check comes through sooner than later.0 -

Pops its probably been covered already but aren't you allowed to have an extra bedroom if you have a disability in case a carer is needed? Hope you are having a worry free day today
It's been better today thank you, still keep thinking things over though...can't help it...
They have you all ways(trouble is I have two bedrooms unused:()and no real family or friends I could ask to stay over and I am not under care like Mum was.
But if one room was used that would only be one room to pay for...but if you say you have a carer or relative staying over they are expected to be here a lot not just odd days...
I'm like SmilyT and Grey Queen, we have conditions and we cope and we know when we will have a bad day or(I nearly said a good day)I should say a better day...we work around what we have.
Even my Dr today said part of my condition of is that you feel tired but would that wash with those who read forms and do tests and assessments...even my Dr said he hoped I would pass any such future tests and he would submit his opinions but there is no guarantee everything will work in my favour...but I am trying to put future problems out of my mind and live for the day..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I was the girl who was the higher flyer. Who was determined I would show the world how great I was with the great job, new cars and big house. By gawd how much have I changed. I'm so pleased I am a dinner nanny. I will go back into schools and nurseries but I still have my mammy duties to do just yet. this is perfect for me. I feel blessed today
Thanks for all your good wishes.0 -

Nothing wrong with being happy being a dinner nanny, and it will be great on your cv and open up other opportunities. It means you are keeping your options open which as a woman who often is out of the workplace for many years, is very good. You will be networking and keeping up with current legislation. As well as having a lovely time with the children and getting some extra money as well.0
