Would running away from home be a viable option? You, not them, I mean?
When I was a stroppy teenager and would threaten to leg it, Mum would offer to pack my bag and Dad said he'd come with me. Really deflates those drama-queen moments.
My parents used to do that as well :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Quick intro from me - more of a lurker than a poster: Kittikins, age 41, single mummykins to a beautiful DD aged 7, proud owner of a mahoosive mortgage and just in the process of being made redundantI'm pretty MS apart from when I say s*d it and 'treat' myself to something rubbish. I love this thread and a few others. Hoping to go and apply to uni for the PGCE to be a primary school teacher once I've finally left my job, but scared at the same time as money is tighter than a tight thing and I want my DD to have the best life possible.....Ho hum.

Och forgot to say I lived with hot air central heating for many, many years and didn't find it was expensive on gas, more on electric for the blowers but the wonderful big plus was put an airer in front of a vent for a couple of hours when heating on and everything goes from wet to dry, brilliant and I miss it for that, never ever considered a tumble drier when we had that. The boiler cupboard also was wonderful place to raise bread, but it didn't heat the water unfortunately had to have an immersion for that.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

I'm too excited to sleep!
Before I went to bed I read an email from the headteacher of the school I have applied for the dinner nanny position. She has asked me to bring in my identification so she can carry out my CRB check! I think I have bagged myself a job for a couple of hours a day!!!
I should add that she knows me, knows I have umpteen amount of years working with children with special needs and knows my old boss... I guess there's not many people in my village that have my qualifications and experience that only want to work a couple of hours a day as a dinner nanny.
Anyway, counting chickens before they are hatched but it looks very positive.I'll let you know. I'm going down at 3pm tomorrow.

well done fuddle
HI kittikins - the PGCE is only for one year so if you can manage financially for the year you would be providing a solid future for both you and your DD.0 -
Is a ghillie kettle the same as a kelly kettle?0
-
Yes except the Ghillie has a whistle instead of a cork, it was the whistle that made me go for the Ghillie as not much in it really.
Kelly can be got in stainless steel which I would have loved but then couldn't have afforded the Dutch Oven so will suffer the ghillie being only alluminium, maybe one day I will upgrade, in my dreams maybe:rotfl:

Thank you, little cal, D&DD & lisa kay! Had a good day ending with the paralympics opening ceremony - wonderful! Though a shame it was on C4 with adverts...Just letting your thoughts out pops. Hope you feel lighter for thinking all that through
I could do with your input if you will. I'm saving for a kelly kettle and then an outside stove. My reason is 1) free heating of water for my cups of tea and 2) if power goes off I can basic cook meals.
I was thinking If I just got http://wildstoves.co.uk/survival-stoves-gear/vargo-stainless-steel-hexagon-wood-stove/
as it's cheaper and would do both jobs. Would it still work with twigs/dried leaves etc like the kelly kettle? Also If I stood it on a paving slab would that be ok? I have a bog standard camping kettle, would that go on the top of the hexagon thing?
Any feedback would be lovely. I would like an ozpig if I'm truthful but that's a long way off.
I don't know, but it looks good!I'm too excited to sleep!

Oooh! Good luck, & we're so proud of you! Did she tell you what id is needed? If not, I can tell you - it can be more than you'd expect...0 -
She said birth certificate/marriage certificate, driving licence, passport (don't have one) and recent utility bill with my address on. Does that sound right spiky?0

I think I would like a ghillie kettle instead then. I like that it will whistle to tell me that it's boiled0
