Is anyone watching Britain then and now? Morpeth St London...
well when did 1953-2012 become 60 years?? They keep saying it's 60 years, no it's 59, I should know, I was born then!0 -
Oh Vjsmums - I have the same conversation with mine, "but we will never use pythagorus in real life" yes you will " when did you last use it" errr two weeks ago when I was measuring up for the washing line or some such - knocks them flat havent got an answer to that one!
enjoyed cadburys maybe a little too much - is it wrong that I was tempted to put my head under the machine and just lie there?:rotfl: Oh Mar you would love it and they give out samples and little pots of chocolate to eat on the way around. :j:j:j
Has been a long day though and am aching all over, DS managed to switch a machine on and cause a mini chocolate floodand has been difficult since about three oclock - but was to be expected with a two hour journey.
Have got all OH cards etc sorted for tomorrow which is a bonus - am usually getting up and racing about wrapping stuff and getting kids to write cards. Bags all sorted ready for tomorrows freebie trip to theme park so hopefully we should get a good start.
Am loving the static caravan idea, I know a few people who did this years ago and really enjoyed it. How expensive are they to buy? Was wondering if Pops inheritance might be enough to buy one rather than rent?0 -
I suspect there would still be ground rent to pay and of course gas and electric. Definately doable with a good few K's though. There is/was talk of charging council tax to caravan owners. Not sure if I was dreaming that bit?
Caravans start at just under £7000 where my fil is do definitely doable. I tell you, I'm saving hard because if I ever find myself in a situation like I have done in the past, If I have a couple of grand under my belt and a store of food, at least I could buy a roof over my head, even if I'm not able to reside there totally all year. Contingency planning and all that.0 -
 Here's to many more Spiky!
PAH theres quite a lot of hands on info and how to's and recipes in the book but you'd need to see wether you have the info in other forms already I suppose to see if its worth splashing out on

Fuddle if this bread turns out better than my regular one, which is a little heavy for us but edible, I will love you and Mrs C forever, will report back tomorrow :T:T:T:T
Ds just asked where the tea bags were....oops...' oh my god' he uttered ' is this the world war 3 cupboard?' Then I told him a few facts gleaned from all on MSE of late and he began thinking about helping me add to the stash :rotfl: Not stupid my boy!
on a slightly different note, my Dd is proud owner of 2 corn snakes, one large lady snake and a smaller male. last week she rang to say boy snake was missing and Mrs snake looked very fat  much googling later her partner found out cannibalism wasnt unheard of but rare. Fast forward to weekend, cleaning out Mrs snakes abode, pops Mrs S in her favourite hideaway(unused beach bag ) on removal from bag, snake seems much longer than before - Tommy Cooper eat your heart out - Mrs and Mrs Snake wrapped together cos they had missed each other ??? Apparently, somehow, Mr S had escaped and hidden in the beach bag for 5 days. We had all searched the entire house, just in case, and there was no bloomin snake in that bag. Vivarium now firmly locked and bolted. At least she didnt take him to work in her handbag, Mr M would have had a riot on its hands :rotfl:Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -

Well my inheritance is just enough for me to lose my help but within approx 10 weeks I already be below that so you can see how quickly there will be nothing left and so it does not get swallowed up paying CT and rent, utility bills etc...I will have to go mad and spend what I can on furniture and other items which the CAB says I can do without it being seen as deliberately buying un-necessary items but as I have most things already that could be interesting. I have to keep proof of what I buy:mad:
The caravan site I saw when I searched on the internet, the lowest price was £125 weekly rent(roughly what I would pay here if paying the full amount)buying prices start at £20,000 so I am still approx £3,000 short.
The only place I found...

yorkie puds preheat oven to 220 and put pudding tin in to heat. add sausages to tin and cook for 10 mins. whisk 1 cup plain flour, 1 cup of milk and 1 large egg and seasoning/herbs. pour over sausages and watch as the monster pud tries to escape the oven
. (the sausages normally have enough fat to not need extra oil)
I think this recipe has only ever failed me once when i ran out of plain flour and used half/half plain/SR. it wasn't pretty.
I use the same batter recipe for pancakes and battered fish.
spikey I hope you had a fab day x
Homerdog ooooh, check you out, learning how to use quote. See, you can teach an old homerdog new tricks:rotfl:
Feeling poorlyhad a cold coming on for weeks and it's finally settled in and given me a nasty cough and headache. will be heading to bed shortly, if I can find room in there between the two girls the cat and the dog...
We had a special treat tea tonight after the girls had to miss their friends party due to the rain (not just a bit of rain, some of the roads were closed due to flooding). We made a big tray of tapas/meze and took it all up to my bed with a film. We all really enjoyed it and they're now fast asleep and not sure if i can be bothered moving them. DH wont be home until morning and I quite like having them in with me, cosy. The animals will be moved downstairs though.
It's really not a nice night, feeling very sorry for DH who's out in it tonight. I'm curled up on the sofa with the TV firmly off listening to the rain and just about to start my third pair of mitts.freecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -

Thanks D&DD.
Hubby would give his his eye teeth to live in a permanent caravan, its what he has always wanted to do, but I am the meanie I like garden and some privacy and all the sites he dragged me round only had tiny gardens with 1ft fences round them.
Sophie picked up a bit so went with friend, unfortunately she didn't get a message which is most unusual as she 'always gets one' this time it was me, which is rare as not something I usually get. I remember once there were 5 of us in training each giving messages and not once during that session did I get a message, no one ever wants to talk to me. I keep forgetting how near I am to widnes as doesn't take more than 10 mins tops to get there, think will get hubby to take me to shops there next month when in funds again.
Sophie now snuggled up tight against me and no plans for going out again for a day or so.
This is the tripod Barbecue with the Dutch Oven on it, it should be ok to use it I think as it quite strong. Excuse the box, that is the dog food that arrived on Monday and still waiting for hubby to take up to storeroom.
Weather is supposed to improve from tomorrow so hopefully will try them out and maybe ghillie kettle will have arrived so can try it, unless it was one of the parcels I missed today, if so then will be Friday.
Hugs and Love to all xxxNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch
