Thanks for the welcome!
D&DD sorry your son got a late diagnosis thats sad, hope hes got lots of support since. DS was diagnosed officially 3 months ago but weve known for about a year and half but really thinking back ive always known he was different since he was a baby but being my first and in denial I just shrugged it off as all kids do things at different paces. In the end I got him in a fab preschool who pushed to help and we got support but we just moved 4 weeks ago and literally every service we use (early years worker, speech therapy, gp services such as podiatry and optometry) just said sort out new support yourself we cant help you untill you get him in school. But hes only at nursery age (could start sept) but all nurserys here are full.
Ive spoke to new health visitor here though and shes gonna sort it all out and get him referred and is coming to see us so fingers crossed everything will work out.
Its school that terrifies me im a really overprotective parent very physically attached but I have such fear of other kids being mean to him and parents not understanding, his social skills are practically non existent and he hates crowds gets very upset.
Anyway sorry getting very off topic but i did notice reading through there are a lot of people here with various disabilitys and thise with children with ASD, hoping the world understands a lot more nowadays.0 -
Had some fab luck with Fr**cycl* today, someone offered a huge bit of fur fabric for toy making and picked me to collect! :j then someone answered my wanted post for surplus fruit/berries and I've got a carrier bag stuffed with cooking apples. Another person has just offered me all of their wine making equipment, not sure what's there but will collect tomorrow and pass on anything I don't need. :T
Went to enrol DD1 in her collage course and got told she may be eligible to a free bus pass because of her distance from college - a potential saving of £560 :j (this money is already put aside so would make a brilliant mortgage OP )
Picked up my double slanket thingies earlier but to tired to try them out, bed is hollering my name with a megaphone!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Iris,
I don't think you are OT people in similar situations proabably need support and ideas and being OS is important perhaps because income is tight or someone has given up work to care for someone...

Iris I won't say it's been easy but I'm a persistant beggar lol Do you have a portage system where you are? Its the latest thing here and has been working quite well in tying the services needed together..I always miss the boat on these things my boy was too old but parents at our support group swear by it
Its good to hear things are getting a little better in some instances at least.
Fuddle I can't knit for toffee but still manage to sort of create useful 'stuff' :rotfl:I made some simple neck muff thingies with some lovely cheap wool from Kemps that happened to fall into my basket one day.
Only a few rows of my dodgy garter stitch but perfect for keeping out draughts when walking the dog0 -

How lucky in every way...

That's the feeling I miss with not working - the feeling on a Friday night crawling into bed, absolutely exhausted, snuggling down and absorbed by my cushion, knowing that Saturday morning I didn't have to get up for work... Actually I think it's not the not working that scuppers that blissness but having kids!
Now every night it's just bed and hope I sleep, hope the kids sleep and wondering who is going to wake me up first the girls or the dog!
Iris, share away. I know you'll find so much support here0 -
Hello Everyone
Just thought I would pop in and explain my absence!
Went for a growth scan on baby Pea and "it" measures quite a lot smaller than it should and hadn't grown at all since last. Got to gofor another next week and if its not grown again they may well decide to deliver early. So Ive been told to rest lots and stay on my left side as much as possible, hence not much time on computer!
In good news OHs job is going well and they have now switched me from JSA to Maternity Allowance, all seems to have gone smoothly but only time will tell hey!
Best wishes to all on here, I am trying to keep up with you all but its hard!Debt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T

Well done Pooky, nice when things like that happen:)
Welcome Iris and did I see a Jenny pop out of the woodwork, sorry am hopeless with names.
I should be clearing the bath - all shopping has been dumped in it as if put it in storeroom floor would be covered and I would not be able to get in to put anything away so I told hubby put it in bath..........just as well neither of us plan on having a bath tonight, but have to get it done soon.
Had an email telling me DHL will also be delivering my Dutch oven tomorrow, as well as the tripod BBQ. I wonder if some clever person will put both orders even though from different places together so I just get one delivery, never had same firm on same day bring parcels from separate places, usually different delivery firms.
If nice (although rain is forecast for afternoon but not evening) guess what I will be cooking on tomorrow - even got some burgers that were a freebie( well almost - 99p for 5 but he sells them for 99p each but big massive things ) from butcher when I bought meat last week, just have to make some rolls.
Hugs and Love to allxxxNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Pips mum, wishing you and little one well. Do keep us posted when you can. Hope you're ok x
Eek have I missed a newbie? Hello Jennywelcome everyone.
Forgot to tell you that I got the spare room cupboard cleaned out. Just camping stuff in there now (must check how much gas) and lots of space for food stores. Feel happier, just wish I had the funds to fill it up! The clock is ticking re: price hikes0
