Can I ask how you make nice rich brown gravy ? I make good stews but don't colour them, just cook in the juices... I think they would look nicer if they were brown . OH doesnt like Oxo he says - I dono how he knows because I've never used it!

If you don't want to add anything oxo-ey to it you can cook onion skins in it. I just wash the onion first before peeling of the skin, then just chuck them in. Don't forget to take them out before serving.

How easy is it to hire a man and van? I have seen some bookcases on ebay but they are too big for any of my friends to collect in their cars or little rollerskate vans.

Missed that bit... but I'm very doubtful because if it can kill slugs it can surely kill earthworms (or maybe I'm missing something else!)

I think it would certainly kill beneficial invertebrates like garden beetles of all varieties, as it says it kills carpet beetles. A beetle is a beetle after all! :D

I'd be very wary of using it in the garden if it does what it says on the tin so to speak.

It is wonderful stuff. Earthworms and beetles thrive on my allotment but flea beetles don`t. I have used it for over a year and have tremendous crops this year. Crops first in my household, above slugs and caterpillars. My small plot of veg, about 8 x 60 feet, provides enough veg for two of us for a whole year and I am talking of 5 a day in veg alone

Its serious business naming your belongings and much thought has to go into it :rotfl: it also helps take the sting out of our daily struggle.

Bernard and I ( my trusty trolley) went out today, local chemist, Mr A ( nothing to buy) bus to the market, Mr T, 2 x CS's nothing much of interest anywhere. Then I found a new freezer food shop on the market and got a big bag of crab cakes - yummy. Called to a friends on the way home and was given a roll of tatran fabric :j and one of those Dremel type craft tools that drills, polishes and whatever else it does. I have been longing for one for ages and was so chuffed they thought of me....now what can I make from 10 metres of tartan for Christmas...wanders off to search the tinternet....
