Actually, I will just leave 'em both up, it's more or less the same stuff, just expressed differently.

Bit of Twitter for you. A hashtag, which can be seen by anyone following that tag #IamanIdiot

Oh, whilst I'm here, perhaps someone can help me? How many posts do I need to make before I can post attachments?

Still learning that too I'm afraid...:)

Most of us are trusted to put links etc...if we did something wrong it would soon be jumped on...I know blog links have to be put into the profile area but attachments...I don't know...sorry...

I quite understand you feeling like that Katieowl...the weather and a drop in business must all add up especially on top of other things(if other things are going on)

There should be some kind of insurance deal where if customers are less...you pay less or some kind of refund...but I know that's not likely...or is it?

All this twitter talk makes me want to join. But I already waste so much time on facebook :o

I am sooooo cold, and yet it is 20° C in the house. But the weather is so windy and humid that it feels like November...

And here I was, hoping that I would be able to work on my PhD in our tiny garden this summer, in the sun, with a cold lemonade, with the rabbits frolicking around me :o

It's certainly dull, I think the wind has blown the rainclouds away but for how long?

Idyllic in my dreams :o My PhD is in representation of science in literature (so nothing exciting I'm afraid!), so I had Cath Kidstonesque dreams of lovely picnic rugs and lots and lots of books scattered elegantly around me. :o In my dreams I was also wearing this gorgeous floral dress from Asda I bought in April. :rotfl:

Almost :D I drink tea and the bunnies are indoors, making a mess of my lounge with hay everywhere!!!!! And yes, only hay. My bunnies use a litter tray :) I always feel I have to explain as I don't want people to think I let my pets poop on the floor :rotfl:

You can rabbits like a pet dog and cat and I had a lovely one I purchased when my Father passed away twenty eight years ago and she survived approx 9 years.

She used to come into the lounge stretch out in front of the open fire...go out to her hutch when she wanted to do anything poop wise, she was an old softie. I'd have another and wish I had sooner but I have to be sure to be there for a pet and now, they do cost a little to look after, not sure how my HA looks at having pets and if I had to move etc...happy memories...

There are a quite a few people that allow abbitrs in their homes and they are clean animals.

One celeb I know that does/did was Chris Tarrant and his then wife.

    Good afternoon all.

Been trying to keep up with the thread but you lot do natter a lot.

Been busy trying to fill up stock cupboard (particularly tins of peas, carrots and potatoes). Bought a full pack of tinned peas from that supermarket we all hate this morning, and got a very weird look off the checkout lady.

I can't understand why at 18.9 degrees in the living room in the evenings I am feeling cold, when in the winter at that temperature I think it is lovely and warm.

(I was going to put a puzzled smiley there, but found some right dodgy looking things so I'll leave well alone.)

Our efforts in the garden this year look to be abysmal due to the weather. We've had spuds that simply rotted, onions that are just sitting there wondering whether to go to seed and tomatoes that can't get enough sun to ripen. I'm hoping we get the sun before the blight hits. I check them every day like a mother hen as I'm getting so many blight alerts.

Even the fruit trees don't seem to be making much effort. We had lots of blossom but not a lot of fruit seems to have set.

I think in the "olden days" this would have been a year when the peasants starved.

    Hope everyone is OK

Katieowl sorry you're struggling. How are you marketing the B & B is that something that might benefit if it changed?

    Jamanda,
I think you are right about the peasants and sadly it still happens...but is ignored or is hushed up by the media and politicians and it may happen more when all the changes come in.

    We're going backwards, not forwards...

I think everyone will agree this is a bad year for growing your own vegetables and flowers, I know had Mum lived she would have been as surprised as everyone else at the weather we've suffered...

If you want a full pack of peas, you have them...I was on Twitter earlier and a novel writer is doing soething similar regarding stocking up...his wife was filling the kitchen cupboards and he was filling the cupboards in his study so we are not alone...

I love my bunnies (have a pair, neutered obviously!) and I wouldn't be without them. I am so grateful to my LL for letting me have my pets. And they are indeed super clean animals. They actually remind me of cats, but vegan! :rotfl:

Jamanda and Popperwell you're right, and I bet many farmers and working class people will find this year really hard indeed. :(

Well my body was expecting warmth and sun after a long winter of rain/snow/ice. So 18°C just won't cut it and I bet your body is the same :D
  • Hey FUDDLE - just back from taking the lurcher for his afternoon walk/swim . Have consulted he who knows these things - and he says you could burn cardboard but it won't give much heat or burning time and you would have to constantly feed the fire with it. He says what you really need is a'good sturdy log' to give you some heat , get the pig up to heat and then close the door down a bit and get cooking. We use paper and kindling to get Fatima started, and then throw on any wood we have to hand. We tend to use the wood that our Labrador friend brings back from the beach, once it has dried out. I guess you could chuck on anything you have and it would still work. The chimney comes in sections you fit together so is very easy to clean if you do get a bit sooted up. Fatima is currently living in the Summer House as DH has reclaimed the wooden cradle that was her stable to replace one that broke in the woodpile, Ozpigs aren't too big to store either she stands about 2' tall and I find it most comfy to sit down to cook, I set her up half way down the garden and then the smoke doesn't upset the neighbours. The cast iron pans sometimes turn up in T K M*x at reasonable prices, I even picked up an aga bean pot for £1 at a boot fair a few years ago so always worth looking if you are at or near one. Cheers Lyn and a very soggy lurcher xx.
