Fuddle glad you have a holiday to look forward to.
PAH I love to go to the beach to re-charge too. Bag of chips on the front at Morecambe works wonders for me
Having a stupid day, washing line full of flannalette sheets broke - wheres the paracord when you need it? RE-washed now and off out again x fingers :j OH keeps leaving the back door open, camera wouldnt work and I had urgent pics to send for a charity fayre and Dd's gas has gone off. Ah well I think a cuppa and a bit of knitting is on order now that I have thrown the cat out of the front door cos he was being silly.:rotfl:Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Hmm, it seems the other knitting thing I do "wrong" is i pass my yarn from front to back rather than the other way round. It all looks the same though, so I am not sure it is that much of a problem.
Ooh and one of the great things about the school reunion was GYPSY TART for afters. Any Kentish people here will understand.....:cool:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Love the smiley, prepareathome! I did one of these on a rather empty beach in Norfolk during the summer, in a playful mood and just to raise a smile...it was right at the bottom of the slope so you couldn't miss it...but you know what, everyone did! I even put, 'Hello' round the top and 'Welcome!' round the underneath bit. Not only did nobody notice -- a few even just pushed their scooters and buggies right through it! (I was sitting only a few feet away and I kept looking to see the reactions). I did think that one little kiddie might have had a giggle, at least!SPC 0930

I've just watched a piece on the news reporting about a think tank that suggests a person needs to earn over £7 per hour to keep afloat today. Another argument for the NMW is too low to survive debate.
I'll see if I can find a link.

Torment it may well be and the children may well be very bored in deed but I'd rather have 24 hours of hell and experience something that I have always wanted to do, then to not do it at all.
We've not been given enough money to do it any other way.
Life has given us an opportunity and we're grabbing it.0 -

Well, I haven't travelled with young children on a coach, but "did" the east coast of the USA in a fortnight  on one! Apart from the cheery American courier (what are they called?) and him picking up his married girlfriend to share the holiday
, all was well as far as travelling is concerned. I love to sit back and watch the scenery, in fact I'm quite unsociable when travelling, so much so, the others thought the friend I went with was a stranger and introduced us and asked if we wanted to sit together?:rotfl:
Anyway, I think it's great, they usually have all mod cons and as long as you take plenty of games/books/drinks/food/sweets for the kiddies it will be fun. Take a small blanket/fleece and maybe those pillow things that hold your neck when you nap.
I'm all excited for you!! xxx When do you plan on going?0 -

Fuddle I am really pleased to hear about your holiday luck! It will be fantastic, I love France. I also love long journeys on coaches, when I go to the UK I take the long distance Mega coach to my destination from the airport. I find I can relax, which I wouldn't do if I was driving a hire car in the UK. I hope you have a great time including the coach travel.
Had a lovely weekend despite the thunderstorms and high winds. The retirement party for my friends at the bar went off great and a good time was had by all. Had a quiet day yesterday doing jobs around the house. Went to the gym today, also filled up with petrol as it was down to 1.73 a litre..the cheapest we have had for two years (at one point it was 2 euros a litre:eek:). Then I found some lovely thin sweaters at the Chinese shop for just 3 euros each and they are dressy enough to go out in.
I then went to a supermarket near to the marina for some fruit. I bought my usual on Thursday but we have eaten it all so had to get more. I took four apples and four pears to the counter to pay but was horrified at the amount so asked her to check it...then I went to look at the price list and it was 1.99 a kilo for apples and 1.79 for the pears....but since I bought them at their other branch I knew that the price on Thursday was 99 cents a kilo for apples and 1.30 for the pears. I asked for the customer services manager and played hell with them for ripping customers off because they live on the marina....I walked out without buying any and so did the lady beside me in the queue. I drove down to their other branch and got them at the correct original price....and complained to their manager about what was happening at the other branch.
Honestly, things are tough enough without people profiteering from customers...
Have defrosted some gf pasta with shellfish for tea and some kalamari to go with it (squid). Otherwise my freezers are full to bursting as are my cupboards.
I am not optimistic about the euro or the Greek government surviving much longer so stocked up with food, fuel and water;)“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0
