Afternoon all
It's beautiful here, if a bit cold, so we've had the heating on a while.
My mum found and bought all the Laura Ingalls' books when we were kids; they're a marvellous insight into a really tough way of life. The detail in them about hard they worked is amazing - think all you toughies would like them!
Not at work now for 12 days and littlies on half term, so am going to do more winter prep this week, batch cook, see my sister and veg out a bit - all in equal measure, without having to rush around like blue @rsed flies - wonderful. :rotfl: Have applied for another job this week, same hours but arranged better through the week - these long hours are killing me!
fuddle - hope you get tax sorted out, councils can take their time unless you nag!
spiky - so pleased you got a diagnosis! Have you had an I-told-you-so moment yet?

Aww, shucks, you should come to live here and then you might get to talk to me on the phone. I'm lovely, people tell me.:p They even ring back and specifically ask for me again (strange but true).
Nearly dark outside and having a heavy shower which is rain plus hail, which makes a change from purely rain or purely hail.
My feet are actually cold in just socks. I've been in this flat years and never felt it necessary to own slippers but am wondering if I should review that decision. I have a pair of flipflops for when I go out to the bins but no proper slippers.
Will have to try and find some that are cosy without looking too lil ole lady.
Thanking my lucky stars that I have a home and food when the weather is like this.
ETA Nuatha, how is your OH getting on?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

No doubt that is true and I can believe it. The problem here is that you often cannot get through to the department you need and they don't even put you on hold but cut you off.
It will get dark but as I write this the sun is shining and it is the nicest part of the day.
I cannot say why...sometimes even wearing thermal socks my feet can be freezing too...
I may have to consider wellingtons for the snow/feezing weater but hopefully I won't have to go out in it too often and trainers usually work ok.

Blast, I never thought of that! :rotfl:
Google is always so much easier!
Spiky and Kidcat, really pleased that all your hard work and fighting has paid off. I know it's still a long and hard road so wish you well. xxx0 -
Aha, thank you. I'll sort it out on Monday. I would go through school but it's my luck it's half term.
GQ I have rubber soled velour slippers and they're great. I do look like a sight mind you. I ventured next door the other day, to check that my neighbours couldn't hear the dehumidifier in their bedroom at night. I had my floral onesie on, purple velour slippers and red dressing gown on. Remember I'm 33? They're approaching 70 and there she was in her little fleecy ballet pump-esk slippers. I sat nattering for an hour dressed like that :rotfl:0 -

I feel middle-age is a difficult one to dress; you don't wanna look toooo old and you don't wanna look tooooooo young.
Maybe I'll just buy a pair of Garfield slippers and pretend I'm a five year old with a premature-greying problem.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

GQ you could get some of those cheapy ugg boot kind of things, they will have waterproofish (enough for trips to the bin) soles, fluffy and comfy inside and if someone comes to visit you'll be normal looking
 why didn't I think of that for myself?0 -
