well my wittering looks like it may be coming to an end...have settled a buy it now price for the chairs (chairs only...not the one that was the table and chairs set) with the seller and have bought them :j:j:j

He asked for £130, so half the price they are in the shops and i work it to be about £40 of petrol down there!

Doing it this way means i get to pick the table I want and still be well under budget!!:beer::beer::beer::beer:

well done i bet your glad :) it's nice when you set your heart on

Yes i am very pleased...would of begrudged paying full price for them but had heart set on them!! :D:D

The link is - not sure if that will work or not? If not they are Ikea Tobias chairs. Dont look much online but they will go with the look I am after and even though they are perspex they are actually really comfy!!!!

and judging by the competion and quick buying on ebay...should i want to sell them in a few years, looks like I may make my money back! :money:

Now if I can stretch to pay for petrol down there out of weekly spends money (next wed - wed money) then I only have to take the money for the chairs out the furniture budget!! (although even taking petrol money out of budget it would still be cheaper than buying them new!)

  • Well done you for your forward thinking. I wish I'd had this forum when I started out. As it is, like you, it had never crossed my mind to overpay. Naively, I didn't think it would shorten things by much, so what was the point. Now I am of a very different opinion. Good luck with the move and rest of your shopping.

Just found your diary, Laura, after noticing that you were reading mine!

Well done on getting the chairs for such a good price. They are very striking. I think they'll look great with the right kind of table. Have you thought what kind of table you'd like to put them with?

I am debating between a glass table or a sort of frosted / white glass table!
The flat is as you would expect with new builds - not the biggest of spaces, so want something that will look nice but also not take up too much room.

I have just had a search on ebay and found the table that I like (Ikea torbsy) but in a smaller size so it is just a square!
It is located in London but is on a BIN price of £30, so have emailed to ask what area in London they are in. If they are to the west I may buy and go to collect when i go down that way for the chairs, would be a long day of driving from the Midlands but would be worth it cost wise! Just debating now weather the square one looks to small...would seat four but would be cosy....i'll keep you all posted on how this one plays out!!!

Hmm...scrap previous post I think....just checked out the sizes online and it does look too small.

Just seen this on ebay....which I am thinking is also a good price and would go well with the chairs. Small enough but not cramped?!

    I like that one.

I have friends whose dining table has to fit into a small space, and who've recently swapped their rectangular table for a round one. They say they can seat just as many people round it, but it doesn't feel in the way as much when they're walking past it. Also, the chairs are kind of curvy, so I think a round table would go very well with them.

just bought it!! Decided to not um and ahh about it like I have been doing with the chairs!!

So my budget was £400 for dining table and chairs

    Chairs, £130
    Table, £60 (inc delivery)

So £190 or £230 with petrol included to get the chairs!!

Wooohoooo ... £200 ish saved ...very mse I would say!!!

Your right Lois, I think that table will go with the chairs, and I also think a clear table with clear chairs might be a bit too clear...might walk into it being the clumsy wine drinker that I am!!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks for all your opionions....and thanks to this website I didnt just buy the first ones that I saw for full price in Ikea!!!

    Wooohooo a happy bunny!!!:beer::beer::j:j
