MFW Diary.....before moving in!!!

I know i was pretty amazed at how much i spend and don't worry i know what you mean and that it wasn't a criticism!!

I think I maybe need different categories or classifications, for things such as the money I spend at the gym for breakfast on a Sunday or the car wash every few months.
Obviously these are not 'necessities' however they are not things I am particularly looking to cut down on. Whilst i want to save as much as I can, I also want to continue to have a life...just be a little bit wiser about it. For instance still have toast at the gym on a Sunday morning, but instead of a glass of coke, take my own water bottle (which is allowed!).
Maybe i need the categories -
Necessary spends - Petrol, Main food shop etc
Regular Spends - Breakfast at gym, Dinner out with BF / Friends etc
Unnecessary spends - Mr T Express morning shops, Lunch from Cafe instead of taking from home etc etc...
And then maybe look to try to reduce the Unnecessary spends.... hmm I think that would work better for me, I shall try those this week!
That make sense to anyone else...or just me!!?? Why isn't there a tumbleweed blowing icon!!!:rotfl::rotfl:2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

Lol that makes complete sense to me, there are some things you don't need but you also don't want to get rid of, and since your not in debt you shouldn't have to.DEC GC £463.67/£450

Again you have summed it up perfectly!!!
I think I need to take some tips from you, instead of wittering on, prob not making much sense and overcomplicating my point!!!2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

Morning all

Well far from a NSD yesterday due to the petrol.....£58 to fill the whole tank :eek::eek:
Although as shocking and painful as I find it, that is for my fairly economical seat ibiza that is 1 year old, previous to having this I had a beetle convertable and that used to be near on £80 to fill up....that was a year ago so god knows what it would be now!!
Apart from the petrol, the only other spend was a £ in the gym coffee shop as I had a drink after my hard class...well deserved I would say!
Today was looking good for a nsd and then I got up late, had to wash hair so even later...and then came out the house without any lunch :mad:
So now the question is what to have!! I have a M0rrisons & MR T Express near me at work, but will end up spending a fortune in there, so might be just as well to order one of the cheaper options from the sandwich man who delivers!!!
I do have a tin of soup in my draw which I could have.....but have to say it is not looking very appealing to me at the moment!!!....hmmm will have a ponder on this big decision!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl:
hope all are well...and look whats happened without us even noticing.....Wednesday....mid week already! :j:j:j:j2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

oh and in other news...ordered some new clothes for work the other day...think I mentioned it, had put on my credit card. Well there were 3 items and it was £60, delivered...like none of them so they are all going back for a refund!!
The delivery was free so not lost anything!!
Is it a little bit sad that I was sort of hoping I wouldn't like them so I could send them back??!!!2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

Why did you order them if you didn't really want them you numpty

It costs £84 to fill my people carrier, if i'm economicial and only do school runs and nothing else that will last us the month, we filled up 3 sat ago and our light is about to come on, i'm hoping to make it to sat as i have some euro's and very little cash so we'll take a nice drive over the boarder and fill up for slightly cheaper, however we did go over the boarded on our lats fill aswell so have to take into account that drive aswell as our cinema trip a few trips out with the kids and the trip to the beach which used 1/4 of a tank on it's own.
Lunchwise i'd have the soup but go to the tesco express and get the nice soft bakery rolls at 2 packs of 6 for £1 and some real butter to go it it (if theres room for your work frigde, i find real butter makes simple things taste fancier lol, and you'll still have 10-11 baps to take home and a block of butter for the same money lunch out would have cost you.DEC GC £463.67/£450

Hi Laura,
Just wanted to pop in and say hello!!!
Sounds like you are doing fantastically well and really getting into the MSE mindset!
I am a MFW lurker (not stalker i promise :rotfl: ) at present as we are saving for our 25% deposit and hope to have a mortgage/house mid next year ish - when i can then rightfully move onto the MFW board :T:beer::j (of course this always assuming we can find a house we want to buy, which maybe a bigger hurdle than the dep and mortgage acceptance put together
)
Anyhow - keep up the good work
and also the dining table/chairs (i think you mentioned these a 'few times') you purchased look fabulous, very chic and modern!!
Keep up the good work and diary updates!

Haha!! I did like them....and desperately need some new clothes for work, it was just after I bought them that I was thinking if they turn up and i dont like them...it wouldnt be the worst thing!!!!
Had the same though regarding the bread rolls etc, then I looked out of the window and noticed it was throwing it down...so went with the cafe delivery option instead....let someone else get wet!!!
janineh1982, thank you for stopping by...its nice to know people are reading....although I must apologies for talking maybe just a little bit about the table and chairs!!! I'm so excited to go and pick them up on Saturday!!
Good luck with your savings...and in finding a house that you like!!
I think when me and the bf come to buy our next house (planned for about 2 years time) we will struggle to come to an agreement, we have very different tastes and levels of what's acceptable and not!!!
you could think about stariting a diary on here, even though it is not technically a mfw journey just yet! i have found in the few weeks i have been doing my diary it has really got me focused and generally more aware!!
Best of luck and let me know if you do do a diary so I can subscribe!!:beer:2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

Just been on the phone to Argos, I ordered a nest of tables and tv unit 2 months ago, which were booked in to be delivered in July, as this date came they were out of stock so put back another month (no hassel to me as I obviously havent moved in to the flat yet!!)
Anyway, when they rearranged the delivery they told me to call back after recieveing the goods and they would see if they can give me anything as a gesture of goodwill.
Didnt think they would be able to do much but just rang and they offered me a £20 gift card....excellent news, that is coming out in 5-7 days so can put towards the tv that I was planning to get from Argos anyway!!!:j:j:j2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32
