Wow they must be some pretty big windows because ikea do some very big blinds and you cut them to size, i acually have no blinds in this house, i made very heavy curtains to keep the heat in and theres a blind on the frosted window in the bathroom.

Yes, we had wooden ikea blinds and DH cut them to fit the bay window.

ooooo please tell me i have made a mistake and ikea do them in the sizes i need because that will work out a lot cheaper for me!!!??

I was looking at the roller blinds....the grey ones...not sure on name but did check some of the other roller blinds as well and none of them seemed either wide or long enough!!

The patio doors are the largest at 68inch x 80inch
then the next biggest window is the bedroom at 44 inch x 69 inch

Do you think they have some to fit these sizes?? Maybe the Venetian ones would?? That will be my lunch break mission....investigate there wider blinds!!!

  • The ones with the slats in (think that Venetian blinds) are the ones we had... and DH used a hacksaw ti cut them down (don't know if thats the best method).

    Good luck with find out.

well I have investigated...indeed the slatted Venetian ones would do most of the windows however I would need two for the patio doors and then that comes to in the end more money than the made to measure roller blind!!!

Am going to Ikea at the weekend so will check them out to see what they are like, but don't really fancy two separate blinds on the patio doors!

If they are more than I have budgeted then I can always leave the hall / bathroom / kitchen windows till I have some more money, the bedrooms and lounge are priority!!

The only room that I am going to get curtains in addition to the blind is the main bedroom....and only for the look rather than actual use!! Its a good job its the £5 Ikea curtains that I like!!

This home decor malarkey is getting expensive!!!:eek:

Just had completion statement across from solicitors, have paid that and sent the surplus money into my savings account, £228 left over so a nice little boost to the account!

Another £150 will be added on the 20th of September which is the remainder money that my sister owes me.

Hopefully there will be a little left out of the furniture money and that can be added too!

    Getting all accounts tidied up...fantastic!!!

Did have a small nervy though...the solicitor accidently sent me the completion statement for the flat above me, which listed my owed balance as £58k :eek:

God knows what sort of financial situation he has going on...but did worry me for a second!!!!

So there is literally nothing to do now...just sit back and wait to complete!!!:j:j

Morning all...its hear again..mid week point...its all down hill from here!!!:j:j

Well the NSD didnt go to plan yesterday, had to stop on the way home to pick up a few bits from the shop for the bf, dont mind as he was working hard yesterday on getting his own house up to scratch.

The long and eagerly awaited seafood risotto was.....not very nice to be honest :(:( a bit bland and too wet....I love cooking and normally my food is well recieved, I dont think i will be trying that one again....at least the dog who we are doggysitting enjoyed it!!!

Will do my spending week summary later today, a few £ left in my purse and lots of petrol left in my tank :D:D
I will do the weekly draw of £100 later and stop to put petrol in on the way home, whilst I still have a fair bit left, I have a fair bit of driving on saturday, next week is also going to take a lot of petrol due to running between the flat, bf's house and mom's house so think it wise to put in the usual £30.

Have started a 2 week media diary on VO, will get a £10 :j payout if I can complete the full two weeks. Prob not the best timing to do over the move, but can do each day up to two days later so should be able to find some time.

Still no dinner top up shops needed this week...just shows how being in one place all week and sticking to my plan really makes a difference. I can't wait to get in the flat and be doing this for real!!

Phone and iPad are still being charged at work and decanting pop in a morning is in full flow!! A couple of times I have forgoton and thrown the small bottle away, so just need to make sure I remember to take them home with me!

Lunch bought from home every day this week. I am tempted to order lunch today as I only have boring soup, but will refrain...at a push I might have a kit kat!!!
Considering having days where I leave my purse at home once I am a bit more settled!! Apart from Wednesdays when I draw the weekly cash and fill up petrol I shouldn't really need money any other day!!

Hope all are well today...looks like nice weather outside....lets hope it keeps it up for the bank holiday weekend!!!

    Spending Diary for Week 14/08/2012 - 22/08/2012

Starting Balance £130 ish (£10 Carried over from last week + few bits of change found in car and bedside table!) (Added an extra £20 as took from Furniture money for Petrol)

    14/08/2012 - £58.00 (Mr T - Petrol) Necessary Expense
14/08/2012 - £1.10 (Crisps & Chocolate from Lunch Man) Unnecessary Expense
15/08/2012 - £1.00 (Drink at gym Post class) Regular Expense
    15/08/2012 - £3.80 (Lunch) Unnecessary Expense
16/08/2012 - £3.00 (Morrison's - Dinner Top up) Unnecessary - as I already had bought the Chorizo but 'accidentley' ate it!
    16/08/2012 - £2.00 (Birthday Cards) Necessary expense
    16/08/2012 - 2.00 (Morrison's Saving Stamps) Regular expense
17/08/2012 - £4.80 (Asda - food to take on road trip to save service station spending)
18/08/2012 - £19.10 (B&Q) Regular Expense (Not regular but happy to spend it)
    18/08/2012 - £35.00 (Mr T Petrol) Necessary Expense
    19/08/2012 - NSD
    20/08/2012 - NSD
21/08/2012 - £3.00 (Pop & Choc for bf) Unnecessary Expense (but don't begrudge on this occasion!)

    Current Balance - £2.20

So I had £130 (10 left from prev week and 20 towards extra petrol from furniture budget).

    Necessary - £97.80
    Regular / happy to spend - £26.90
    Unnecessary Spend - £10.90

Well i seem to have spent more money than I have somewhere along the lines because the three sections above at up to about £135 to me??!!

Hmmm will try to have a think...the only thing I could think it would be would be the secondary petrol fill up, couldnt find reciept but was pretty sure it was about £35, maybe it was nearer £30. Everything else has been inputted straight away or off reciept!!??

Heyho, not to worry, i think the reduction in unnecessary spends is my clear victory this week. I am pretty happy with everything else, obviously petrol has taken a big hit this week with near on £100 spent on that, but that has done me a 300 mile round trip on top of my normal 225 ish miles per week and left me a half full tank for the week ahead.

More importantly for me, I actually foresaw this and made plans as to where this money would come from...i actually feel quite pleased with myself for this!!

    Next weeks diary coming soon......:D

Well done you...really getting in the swing of it now.

£5 curtains from ikea are a great idea - they have so much nice stuff. I have ikea over the ages in my house (been there nearly 15 years).

    Keep up the good work.
