I know your getting blinds, but i'd def recommend getting curtains aswell because in winter you'll get drafts and cold from your windows, putting your elec bill up, if you don't want curtains all year round i have a cheap no thrills solution....
ikea do a plain cotton fabric at £1.75 a meter, they also do fleece blankets for £1.60 and a roll of header tape is very cheap from ebay, hem it all and sew it all together and it will be fab make do curtains for winter, even for big windows it's won't matter if you have to sew 2 blankets together, the cotton comes off a big roll so shouldn't be too much trouble there, even if you do if there only temp for winter it won't matter.
Good luck with the blinds, i had 2 blinds on my kitchen window in mt old house and it was a real pain, but it was rented so i wasn't going to replace them.
I take all the notes, £1 and 50ps out of my purse and into a big tub when i know i won't be spending, i tend to have a couple of pound in change and it means if u get stuck and need to use a pay phone (i'm awful for topping my mobile up or forgetting it) or if i really really need a drink or something i will only buy that and nothing else. Not thats my tubs all that full cause i then take spends out of it, i'd say there £25 in it at the mo.DEC GC £463.67/£450

New spending diary started for this week.
Will be doing my best to have a good week, but i think this week and next week might be a bit of a struggle, this 'financial week' i will complete on the flat and then next 'financial week' I will be moving in.
Will try to be as careful and planned as possible which should stand me in good stead!
For this week, petrol money has been reported and I need some essentials which I could either go to Morrison's or B&M's for...will go to B&M's i think as they should be cheaper and it will reduce the temptation to buy anything else... Morrison's seems to have some sort of hold over me!!
Meatballs and spaghetti for tea tonight....will do a few extra so leftovers to bring for my lunch tomorrow

just done todays entry on the VO media diary.
Did another survey whilst had the momentum, a fairly long and dull one, said to earn between 0.50 and 1.50, completed all questions, but just checked balance and it has not updated by any amount.
Does anyone know if this often happens or what I have to do to make sure it is credited to my account?2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

At the top you can click on completed surveys it should show in there within the next few days, it usually takes about a week to add to your balance. i use my VO vouchers for tesco because i find if i get any where else it's just encouraging me to spend money i wouldn't, amazon vouchers are also good for buying pressies (or sometimes cases of baked beans or boxes of pasta)DEC GC £463.67/£450

Thanks for that....will keep checking on it for the next few days....I def finished it, got to the rating page etc!
I had chosen amazon as I thought the same - use for presents! If I can change though tesco might actually be better, could use it for petrol or gifts again!
Managed to avoid the shops, the things i needed...i realised i had some at my moms house so popped there to pick them up...a bit of petrol but the cheapest option!
Dinner is cooking....by 8pm for the first time all week and I am hoping to have an early night.
Hope all are having a good one....all downhill now to the bank hol weekend!xx2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

I hope so!!!
Good news...Just managed to save another £5 per month on my iPhone contract....reduced the service plan to a cheaper one and put a cap on the data limit so I cant go over and end up with a higher bill!! :A
Bad news...just found out when my first mortgage payment will be taken. I was told as I complete so near to the end of the month (28th) it wouldnt be taken on the 2nd of September, rather the 2nd October and would be for a month and a couple of days. However I have now just been told it will in fact be taken on the 2nd of September and for a full month.
Not a problem as such, I will have the money as I get paid on the last day of the month and had worked on allowing for the payments to start then....was just hoping for a cheeky little boost to my savings account!!
Oh well...looks like I will feel like a proper homeowner right away!!!
Apparently I will get a welcome pack through the post with all account details on etc...and how to make overpayments...whilst I am going to be concentrating on saving for the time being...i am very tempted to just make one token overpayment for the first month!!...we will see!!!:rotfl:2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32
