lots of lovely things bought from Mr Morrrisons! 2 big lovely steaks for tomorrow night and a humongous box of weetabix that were on offer...should keep me going for about 5 weeks basing on having them every day!
Went £2 over my saving stamps card so a slightly reduced budget (£15 or dip into my birthday money!) for what I have left for Aldi shop but not loads to get!
Now have the following stashed in my freezer -
6 Pork steaks (Only small so we would prob have 2 each!)
12 Venison Meatballs (Serves 2 or 3 people)
16 low fat sausages
800g pack of Turkey mince
Pack of Salmon fillets
Lots to keep us going next week!2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32
Grocery challange April: £130.17of £500 target remaining0 -
Sounds like a good haul Laura - what will you use the turkey mince for? We're not too imaginative it in our house, typically just burgers, spicy mince or chili.0

i tend to either do cottage pie or a spicey Yuk sung...cooking the turkey mince with loads of herbs and spices and serving with lettuce leaves and a mint yoghut....yum yum!! That is my favourite!!2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

Hi Laura, :hello:
I'm a relative newbie to both the site and the MFW concept. I've been reading your diary through and really enjoyed it as it reminded me of when I moved into my own first home a couple of years ago. Well done you for getting your own place under the age of 30 :T - I didn't quite manage that myself
I have subscribed to your diary and look forward to sharing your journey with you.
I'm also living in the Midlands and can confirm 'mom' seems to be a local thing.
I also noticed that you have the same bday as my Mum - so belated bday wishes for last week! Good date eh?!
lol
Have a great weekend

Thank you Bookworm...and happy birthday to your Mom / Mum!!
Nice day yesterday, food shopping, went a bit over budget so supplimented with some of my birthday money, however we now have a shed load of meat in the freezer so limited shopping will be needed next week and hopefully the week after!
Then went to town and bought 2 tops with some birthday money, with my student discount they came to around £23 and a few bits from £land.
Then we decided to go out for tea last night which was not planned but I covered out of my birthday money ... i'm convincing myself it is for enjoying myself not just to buy things with!
Anyway birthday money now stands at about £65 and £40 in gift vouchers so may go and do a bit more shopping today!
Received my ShopandScan pack yesterday so have set up on my computer and watched all the videos, scanned everything I bought yesterday...seems very simple and looking forward to making up the points....we all know what points make :rotfl::rotfl:
got some cleaning and work to do before the bf gets up and I drag him off to the shops!
Have a great sunday all
:D

Overly complicated chores?
Really glad you had a good birthday and remember that while paying down the mortgage is all well and good, it's fine to spend birthday gifts on yourself!
Still, have a little sympathy for your BF, we men really don't like the shops.0 -

I think I'm an odd one out as I'm a girly who doesn't like shopping. Like to be in and out as fast as possible. Don't enjoy trailing around for hours at all!
Enjoy spending the rest of your bday money/vouchers Laura. I always allow those to be 'fun spending'. Gotta be allowed some treats or you'll go mad!

haha as long as i feed him every 2 hours and a drink every hour he is ok..ish!!!
Yep i was very tempted to put all my birthday money into my savings but my mom actually wrote in my card specifically to spend it on clothes etc...I think she knows me!!!
Just reading your diary edinburgher , was after a new one to read from start (there like mini books when you read them that way!) so will be up to speed shortly!!!2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32
