Well done you - I feel like I deserve wine after 4 minutes of presenting :rotfl:

I've seen you present - I felt the same ;).

Ha ha, was too good a line to let truth get in the way :rotfl:.

Went shopping this morning and bought my moms birthday present and spent the last of my birthday money. Need to start the spending diary for the week and update from yesterday and today...I am pretty spent up but have £30 left...which has to include the takeaway we are having tonight for tea for moms birthday and food shopping...really dont need a lot.

Have been through this afternoon and worked out all money for November ahead of payday on Wednesday I think. Looks like i should be able to send over £384 to the savings which would take my total to £1255. Well on course to reach the £1300 target for xmas...think I will up this target to £1500. Have the big maintenance payout to pay in January (thought it would be a monthly payment but have been told we have to pay the years charges at the start of the year) so that will wipe out around £1000 but it does mean that I have an extra £80per month to put into savings...although it will only go towards the next years maintenance. Really wish I could pay monthly and I wonder how some of the other apartments are getting on who perhaps dont have the mindset to start building savings as soon as you move in. Will have to make a note to speak to the Management company when the building is finally handed over to them to manage to see if we can change to monthly payments. Surely paying the year in advanced is just letting them earn interest on our money, its a brand new building so apart from the routine costs like cleaning of communal areas etc, I cant see why they need the big fund up front.

Anyone else live in an apartment block or the like and have knowledge of this sort of thing?

  • I always paid my maintenance monthly it was a similar figure too. Maybe ask them? I'm sure they must have a way for people like you say who don't have it up front x
