Morning all....nearly the weekend :beer::beer::j:j
We have decided not to go to the big bonfire this weekend, me and bf have been every year since we have been together and over the years more and more people have come with us, however the forecast is not good, its always sooo busy muddy and cold and his nieces want to come with us but its just too much taking them in such ridiculose crowds. So instead we are going round the bf's sisters. Her hubby has got his hands on some fireworks, I will be getting a piece of pork to slow cook for hot pork sandwiches and were inviting everyone there!!
The £10 I had allocated for the bonfire will still prob be spent, but on pork, baps stuffing etc... and maybe some sparklers!!2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

I'm sure you'll have your own technique, but I really like cubed pork shoulder/belly marinaded in salt, pepper, chilli, paprika, cinammon, allspice and brown sugar. Brown it in a pan with a little oil and two finely sliced onions, add a little water and then cook it covered at 125-140 degrees celsius for 6 hours

ohhhh that sounds lovely!!!
I picked up slow cooking a pork joint off Quintwins who told me you can put a joint in the slow cooker without any liquid and it cooks in its own fat....de-lec-ious!!!
Will prod do that at the weekend for ease (i tend to put some honey and wholegrain mustard as well) but will def be trying your seasoning concoction in the future...looks yummy!!!2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

Yup - it's like making confit - except you add *lots* of fat
Definitely recommend trying cubing and curing overnight at some point, does wonderful things for the texture and flavour.0 -

Thanks all, the interview went ok, then the funny thing was I have really enjoyed work the last two days and feel massively motivated. Whilst my workload is ridiculose I'm now not so sure I do want to leave here....and not sure about the other job yet....dunno, think maybe leave it till after xmas and see how I feel then!
Anyway, it has been a hectic week and a 15 hour day yesterday and presenting for 4 hours today has made me think I am in need of a few glasses of wine tonight!!
They have asked me back for a 2nd interview, not sure weather to be :eek::eek: or :j:j:j
Now I have had the 1k payrise, it would mean the drop would be 2k. Around 1 of this would be covered by the amount I would save in petrol, so theoretically I wouldn't notice it.
But I have sort of gone from hating where I currently am to not quite loving it, but certianly not hating it!!
Arrrgggghhh dont know what to do...should I go for the 2nd interview??!! I kinda feel like I have to, I dont have to take the job should it be offered to me, but if it was then it is soooo much nearer to home (6 mins away by car) and back working for a big global company where I like the culture a little more.2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

Just worked it out, the 1k paydrop (if taking it from current salary) would equate to £13.15 per week reduction.
However I currently spend £35 per week on petrol, this could easily be reduced to £20....in all honesty...probably less. I could also investigate the buses and walk to work or at least walk home.2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

You need to go for it...... you'll always wonder what if otherwise. You may find at the 2nd interview you get swayed strongly one way or another, For the difference in money I'd go for it because of the advantages.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Thank you gallygirl, you are right...I have at least got to go for the 2nd interview.
Just been checking out the busses online, the route would take about 15mins to get there and then a min or two walk the other end. It would cost £5 for a morning only pass (and then not take any money with me so I have to walk home...which in turn could mean I could perhaps get rid of gym membership) or £10 per week for a full pass which I could use any time of the week....and could use to get to the gym from both home and new work!!
Ok ok...I am getting ahead of myself...I need to go to the second interview and if offered then decide if i want the job....and try not to be too swayed by the convenince of it all!!!2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32
