Thanks all for the well wishes...the interview is tomorrow afternoon, have been asked to prepare a number of things for it which is going to take some time so looks like it may be a late one tonight!
My friend has managed to get me a Bon Jovi ticket...at the tune of £75 though :eek:, i have taken this out of my savings but will replace with Xmas money as and when / or if rather, i receive it. The concert is not till June so it can be an Xmas present to myself!!
All spent out for the week now, (until Wednesday) but food sorted till the weekend and petrol in the car.
Will plan out new budget for the new weeks spends later or tomorrow. Think I may just stick an extra bit over to the credit card this week, I have a 0% one that my car insurace has recently been put on, have set it up to take monthly payment which would effectivly be car insurance money, but if i can ever throw an extra tenner etc at it then it would be reduced quicker!
I also need to re budget for next year. I am pretty certain I am going to start overpaying, however at the moment I don't split savings into things like holidays, xmas, birthdays, etc etc. I work on the basis that I will cover as much as possible from weekly money and if I have to dip into the savings then I will. However if i start OP'ing instead of saving, this money will not be quite so readily available to me and therefore I need to work out what this all costs me per month and do a virtual pot list for the savings account.
I also need to work out how much to charge the bf when he moves in with me. I am only having him pay towards the bills and maintenance, nothing towards the mortgage and to be honest he is there pretty much all the time at the moment and I do his washing so cant see the bills going up too much more when he moves in!
Lots of planning to do...I love it!!:rotfl:

sorry all...a bit boring but useful for me to have it straight in my mind! Especially when I owe money to my credit card. (just bought a present on the credit card but dont want to leave an outstanding balance (beyond the car insurance) on there!
Really need to crack on with the xmas shopping, although the present I have bought this morning is one of the big ones done, i still have a fair few left to get. Need to dedicate all spare money to presents for the next few weeks and also cash in my tesco vouchers and boots vouchers etc.
We work it that I sort all the xmas presents and then give my bf a bill at the end for his half. I have been trying to cover out of weekly money, then when i get his half of the money it will cover his presents and hopefully a little bit extra left over which will mean I wont have made any dents in savings to get the pressies!2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

Laura - I can't see that it's fair that you wouldn't charge your BF anything towards the mortgage. If it's easier, call it 'rent'. There is nothing disloyal or petty about expecting a contribution towards him having somewhere to live.
Granted, it costs you no more to have him there (after his bill contribution), but it *saves* him quite a bit to be there vs privately rented housing/his own place.
Tbh, I'd be a bit surprised to find a man who didn't insist upon making a contribution (regardless of the modern world we live in and the fact that gender stereotypes are now illegal)
It's your life and your decision, but I'd hate to see you miss out on a chance for more OPs :rotfl:0 -

Sorry i should of explained a little more, i wont be charging him anything towards the mortgage because I want it to remain as my property, he currently has a house that he has a mortgage on with his sister, when he moves in with me he will continue to pay his half of the mortgage as a investment with a view to selling in 2 years when we jointly buy 'our family' house (they are past the first few years of just paying interest and are making good headway on clearing the capital now).
Additionally, Whilst I am sure we will be together forever, the other reason that I dont want any contirubtion towards the mortgage is that as I understand it, even if he is not listed on the mortgage or married to me, if he is seen to be paying towards the mortgage then he could stake a claim on my flat should we ever split up.
I should mention that I cant see us spliting up, and he is in no way the type of person who would be trying to take me for what I have, but I would always rather be safe than sorry.
Feel free to correct my understanding of the above...but that was what I thought what I had read up on the subject???? would be very interested to know if that is incorrect??2019 Totals: Savings: £929.53 / Mortgage OP - £746.32

evening all, interview was a bit pants...gutted as i spent so much time working on the things they asked me to do and really like the sound of the job but hey ho, i haven't heard that I haven't got it, but really cant see them offering it to me.
NSD today and yesterday (apart from xmas present that i put on ccard but have already paid off!
Think i will need to increase the food shopping budget this week, we dont seem to have a lot in. Meat is needed....didnt have enough chicken for dinner last night so it was a mix of chicken breast and pork chop in sauce with rice!!

Hi Laura
This info is CORRECT. Technically by law, they can claim they own part of the house.
What I did was:
a) Get a prenup (£450), stating clearly it is yours.
b) Keep all utility bills in your name
c) Tally up all the utility bills inc CT and split in half.
d) Ask for that to be paid into your account e.g. as an SO.
NB The prenup currently is not not law-abiding like it is in the USA, but it clearly shows the original intent of the OH when they moved in. On the chance this goes to court, this is taken into 'serious consideration' when dividing the property. I was seriously asked do you really need a prenup for a £100k property, I said that is 10 years of savings for my pension, and the lawyer just shut up!
On the home we have bought together, the deposit was a 60/40 split, as I sold my non-earning endowment and some shares bought 10 years (made over £1k profit :j for a £100 seed money), but essentially it is equally ours. The old house which is being rented out (which the prenup was for), and if we do break up, is purely mine. All the Deeds, bills, Estate Agent fees etc for that house is being kept separate, but any income could go towards future child care etc.
If you have any Qs, do send me a tell, as I was in the same position as you, except I had already paid off 90% of the mortgage before he moved in.
M
PS Fingers crossed on the outcome

Don't be too downheartened - at the very least it's been good experience :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Well as I expected i didn't get the job, cant work out if i am sad or not! Love the idea of working so close to home...walking and getting the bus etc to massively reduce petrol, but at the same time it means I get to stay here and have the pay rise that should be coming in the next pay slip and see what the future brings...who knows!!
Not a good spend day yesterday, didn't wake up early enough so was rushing around to get ready... didn't have time to make any lunch and literally had nothing in that i could fashion so had to buy lunch from Mr T...that was about £3.
Parking at uni was £2.80 and then spent £3 at weight watchers on a magazine and a raffle ticket...so that is best part of a tenner gone on pretty much nothing.
Really need to do a big shop this week, we have been running the freezer and cupboards down the last few weeks but we really are running on empty now!
Have decided that I dont think I will go to the wedding next weekend, the bf is still not sure if he wants to go or not...it will depend on which of his friends are going I would imagine, so I have decided that if he wants to go he can go with the lads on his own, and i can save my £20!
Taking my niece shopping on Sunday to pick a few xmas pressies....nothing too expensive but may have to put on the credit card and pay off from next weeks xmas present money....good opportunity to take her this weekend, when normally we don't get chance, but just don't have much of the cash available!
Cant believe it is Thursday already...soo busy at work, think i will be needing to put in a good few hours over the weekend as we have a big presentation next week to prepare for.
hope all are well, and doing a bit better than me in terms of being frugal!!
