congratulations!! I am intrigued to know how they structure there payments, weather lots of small shops works the same way as one big one?! I have asked Tilly a couple of questions which she will hopefully see later, really looking forward to getting home and registering!!

Now the challenge will be to get the bf to keep his receipts!!

Totally random question Laura, but are you American? :)

I've read my way through your diary and have been struck by your infectious enthusiasm. I'm also a new homeowner and have my own goals that have brought me into the manic world of MFW! In our case, it's OPing to get a better mortgage rate (as opposed to paying off a loan), but they're all good reasons.

Mrs E and I also found it a bit tough to budget for the first few months in our new home. Don't be afraid to backslide with the savings if you have to, just don't give up entirely!

hahaha no not at all...from the lovely Midlands!!! I worked for an american company for a good while so perhaps it rubbed off on me!!

I think I was just so desperate to finally get my own place and I have been on a high ever since :D:D

Thanks for reading my diary...hope it made sense...sometimes I use it to report how I am doing and sometime I use it to just get my thoughts and plans down on paper!

I think the thing with me is I like planning, no two ways about it...I love a plan and a spreadsheet!!

Congratulations on becoming a homeowner as well, hope you are enjoying it as much as I am

I asked because of the frequent references to your 'mom' ;)

I think we all like that - there's a real vicarious thrill to reading up on everyone's crazy schemes and OPs that helps keep us motivated on our own journeys.

I hear you - currently have my finance spreadsheets projected out for the next 20 years :o

A bit of a different format for the spending diary now, I thinking putting in a budget section should help me keep focused.

  • Enjoyed reading this again today.

We are looking at mortgages at the moment and have decided on a lower but longer mortgage but will over pay. This at least allows us some space to breathe should anything go wrong.

Should be around 2 months until we move in to our new place - all very exciting!

Thank you Spencer, thats a wise choice I think breathing room is always needed especially if you are a ftb and unsure of certian costs.

These two months will fly by....
