Sky 3 - 1 Package Surf/Tv/Talk

I've been seriously thinking about switching to Sky's 'all-in' package (£26 per month) purely as a moneysaving mechanism as I have no problems with my current, separate services (£47 per month in total). However, despite the encouraging stories, there are too many horror ones for me to take the plunge just yet.
Guess I'll have to watch this space a while longer........
Unfortunately a month after signing up (23/2/07), I do not have Talk - eventually cancelled that myself and went back to BT, and althought having paid 2x £20 activation fees (their error, still not refunded £20 extra they have taken) I still have no broadband connection with Sky. Have spoken at least 20 times now to their supposed Technial Dept and also have emails where they keep contradicting themselves. Latest one is they confirmed last Friday (23/3/07) they are definitely not providing the broadband will look into it again - then got an email from someone else in their dept saying yes Sky are providing the broadband. Their left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing! For my own peace of mind I called BT again this morning and they confirm they are still providing the broadband and will of course keep charging me. I also have sent a 3 page letter of complaint Recorded Delivery and as yet no response. The only way to stop them charging for a service you're not receiving is stop the D/D, they may be more inclined to do something about it then. Honestly cannot recommend the 3-1 package, calls to their customer services cost 10/minute on the 08702 number and there are no alternative numbers you are able to call. Sorry I really cannot recommend them and am trying to see if I can get out of the contract and go back to BT for all my services.0 -
MAKE SURE you check with sky that you can get the free broadband (i think you are talking about the same package as mine see/speak/surf). They couldnt find me on the DSL check which is the BT national database that matches up your postcode and phone number to check for availability. Went back to BT and they said that it is probably because they cant do my bb because they had my details there on the screen no problem, they had lots of sky customers complaining that they were signing up for the package with the tv/phone/free broadband then the customers were getting a bill for £17.99 a month and were in a contract. Sky admitted then that they couldnt do our free broadband until June 07 and that they would charge us £5 a month until June when it would be free for us. Didnt tell us that in the beginning though. Very sneeky.............0

Thought I would give you an update on my order with Sky.
Sky TV installed on Sunday morning as agreed, engineer arrived on time and no mess left - Very Professional!!
Sky Broadband connected today 28 March 2007 as agreed! Excellent Service so far, just waiting on the broadband router to be delivered.0 -
I'm just wondering what percentage of Sky customers are 'satisfied' ones compared with the 'unsatisfied' ones. I realise it's the ones with problems who tend to complain, but as I'm on a monthly contract with Eclipse, I'm really loathe to sign up to a 12 month if I think I might have lots of problems. *sigh*The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. I wish I could give you some postive aspects of my experience with Sky - I signed up for TV, Talk and B/Band, but unfortunately something has gone wrong with all 3! As mentioned previously, eventually cancelled the Talk and went back to BT. Latest with broadband as of 30/3/07, broadband is now with Sky and apparently has been since 13/3 but because they did not follow the procedure i.e. pass the migration code back to BT it still showed up on the wholesale market (website to show which provider your broadband is with), it caused confusion and took until last Friday 30/3/07 to be rectified, BUT not by Sky, but by BT! I called them eventually in desperation they stayed on the free with me for over 40 mins (freefone number to BT not the 0870 to Sky which costs 10//minute!), sorted it all out for me, and BT kindly reimbursed me for the period I have been with Sky although they were not obliged to. Still waiting for a credit for having been charged 2 x £20 fees for the broadband activation by Sky, also waiting for credit on the pay per view football match I was charged £16 for instead of the £8 advised when I booked! Sent a 3 page letter of complaint as Sky requested that I do, with accompanying documents 21/3/07 by recorded delivery. Again, as of 30/3/07 they still have no sign of it, and had nothing other to say except try again in a few more days your letter may have been logged onto the system by then, until then there was nothing they could do!
If I was able to get out of the contract I would definitely go back to BT. A bit more expensive, but in terms of customer service, reliability and freefone numer to call if problems do occur they are second to none. I changed to try and bring my monthly bill down, but I have been sorting this mess out since I signed up with Sky on the 23/2/07 and there's still no end in sight! Sometimes you have to pay a little extra to get the service, a lesson I've had to learn the hard way.0 -

485 kb/s is pretty slow, only about half a meg. I've just done a speed test and I'm getting 2503 kb/s, I'm with Orange up to 8meg package but as I'm quite a distance from the exchange 2 & a half meg is the most I can expect.
485 kb/s is about the same as a basic broadband connection, how far are you from your exchange because I thought Sky was up to 8 meg? I do know other Sky users have said their speeds were quite low at first for a few days but if you're still getting those speeds after a week I would give them a ring.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
I've never had BB before so not really sure about all the speed things... its certainy faster than the Biscit dial up i had...lol
When I connect it comes up and says connected 2.0mbps. I'm about 2 miles from the exchange. I too was under the impression that I would get 8 mbps. I have asked Sky to check it out. Sky state I should get about 4.5mbps to 5mbps.
They also mentioned that your line can take about 10 days after connection to become stable??0 -
Anything is faster than dial-up! :rotfl: I know I hate it if my broadband is down and I have to use dial-up, it seems to take forever for the page to load!
I'm about 2 miles from the exchange and the most I get is 2.5 meg but I'm quite happy with that, I don't really need it any faster. Waiting a couple of weeks sounds about right, the other Sky users I know have said that their speed was quite low for a few days then it seems to be more stable and they're getting much better speeds.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
joining sky talk and broadband is the best thing i've done. absolutely no problems the only one was my speed. i phoned their support team and sky payed for a bt engineer (they charge) to come to my house and check all my phone system. did this and fixed me a new line increasing my speed.
i can't get my head round why people don't join, i have sky tv - £15, broadband - £5 (free from july) and unlimited phone calls - £5
If you are only a light sky tv user there's no point getting the 3 £26 package. why? with that package the phone calls are only free evening and weekend. even though i get less tv channels i only pay £25 for the lot. if you haggle with them i'm sure you can get a deal to get more channels
how can you complain about that?!
well done sky! :T0
