So whats the solution ??Stephen_Leak wrote: »As it's a private road, then there is nothing the landowner can legally do. .............If their prime concern is traffic management and/or security, then they need someone to immediately move on people who do stop. ...............
I'd go for that. Then when the parking attendant gets the normal abuse, and how they can't do anything, and it's private land and they can't stop us parking where we want to, ban them from the airport. Zero tolerance of any abuse towards staff. After enough inconsiderate muppets have missed their flights, they'll get the message they can't stop anywhere without consequences.0 -
We will keep on telling them to ignore private tickets from private companies who have no legal authority to issue fines or financial penalties.
So you have no solution to the traffic problem ?
To those who don't know Luton Airport , there IS a free drop off area before you get to the airport ( but it is a walk) and those that are still tempted to 'drop' off on the roundabout , remember there are three foot barriers to scale .
Inconsiderate parkers cause problems but will allow the armchair lawyers to continue to pontificate , while I wait for a solution.0 -
You'll never get an answer. The normal solution appears to be to employ dozens of attendants to politely ask you not to park there. Of course, every muppet that parks badly will of course then listen.0

What traffic problem? Every time I have been to Luton Airport there has been no probelm and access to the drop off point has been straightforward.wallbash wrote:To those who don't know Luton Airport , there IS a free drop off area before you get to the airport ( but it is a walk) and those that are still tempted to 'drop' off on the roundabout , remember there are three foot barriers to scale .
There is a free bus service from this car park to the terminal. The free drop off point is not very well advertised, which doesn't help at all.wallbash wrote:Inconsiderate parkers cause problems but will allow the armchair lawyers to continue to pontificate , while I wait for a solution.
While private parking companies continue to try and claim unlawful penalties then this debate will continue. The solution is simple...................withdraw the charge for dropping people off at the drop off point."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Lucky you .
To others flying out of Luton , please remember that the 'rush' hour is VERY early morning , the Easy Jet fleet depart from 7 , so those thinking that 5.30 am the place will be quiet are in for a shock.withdraw the charge for dropping people off at the drop off point.
Seems a simple solution but of course human nature takes over. Dropping off can take a very short time , esp when their is limited luggage.
But in reality , the drop off becomes also the meeting place, then the time can and so often does get lengthened. The drop off gets full and back to chaos.
In no where in this thread have I argued that the 'fine' is legal but there is a problem that needs solving .
As you might have guessed I live within a 20 min drive of the airport , up there at least once a month , I do know what I am talking about .
Its a £1 coin , if you can afford to fly , pay the fee.0 -

Are you saying it is chaos at the moment even with the drop off fee?wallbash wrote:In no where in this thread have I argued that the 'fine' is legal but there is a problem that needs solving .

I live about 20 minutes from the airport too and I know what I am talking about. The drop off point is for dropping off and picking up passengers, so why should the person who is doing the dropping off have to pay the fee? There is no drop off fee at Heathrow. Its all about extracting more money out of hard pressed customers already dealing with an economy in poor shape. For many people every pound counts and having to give it to a wealthy airport just for dropping off a passenger for 30 seconds is just not on."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Which is the real thrust of most of these posts. Don't pay, they can't make you. Just abuse the facilities as you want to and we'll help you avoid the consequences.0 -
When being dropped off I pay the fee , when I take a passenger they have always offered to pay the £1, as I have ( they have ) saved already money .so why should the person who is doing the dropping off have to pay the fee?
Try collecting with out paying .There is no drop off fee at Heathrow. Are you saying it is chaos at the moment even with the drop off fee?
Its only chaos when people have abused the system0 -

Never been to Luton Airport but motorists should be considerate and not cause an obstruction.
However paying Apcoa for taking a CCTV picture of you stopping does not really help relieve any problems.
Do you think Apcoa want you too, or want you not too stop??????
Local Hospital here has a similar set up approach road with a roundabout at the end. They don't have a PPC just a man who tells them to move on, or words to that effect!0
