  • Purchase fell through today so back to square one. Literally 24 hours after the survey was completed at a cost of £470! I have asked them via the agent to reimburse us. She was made redundant, surly she would have had some idea of the potential for this to happen and cold have advise us to hold off on survey. Not legally obliged to compensate us but they seemed decent people.

Nothing on rightmove worth viewing. Wife is at work, she will be gutted, bless her.

Oh no :-( How gutting :-(

We still haven't found anywhere - but have spent on a couple of surveys previously only to find the houses were in desperate need of quite alot of spend. Maybe they might have a change of heart - I would give them say a month telling the EA that you are still willing to buy - their decision might have been made on the spur of the moment and they could change their minds if you give them some time to think about it?? Just a thought?

Hope something comes up soon :)
  • Try harder, spend more effort, energy, diligence, bribery & imagination and finding what meets your requirements (assuming you've not got un-achieveable requirements..). If you don;t put the work in chances are you won;t succeed in the timescale you would wish for...

But I'm sure you're doing all that already, eh???

    Cheers!

Sorry to hear that - hope they change their minds/you find something else you like even better really soon :)

  • Don't think they will change their mind. Due to job loss they can't afford to proced with their purchase.

Sorry to hear that thriftychap :( Are there any other possibles on the market at the moment?

After a small summer flurry, there hasn't been much new come to market in our search area the last 2-3 weeks.
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.
  • Absolutely nothing coming on to the market around here either. I've gone from getting 2 or 3 Rightmove alerts a week in early summer to none in over a month now. Unbelievably slow. If this purchase falls through I'll have to go back to renting.

Really hope it works out for everyone here. It's not an easy time to be finding somewhere to live at all!
    Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
    House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY
  • An update on our property search.................HOMELESS!!!
We are living with my parents with no sign of a property completion on the horizon!!!

I am after an opinion or two though.

We viewed a house today on for £269,999 with a 2% stamp duty incentive. We liked the house but the agent says that they have already said no to offers of £250k, one from an investor who phones each week. This house is in move in condition and not your normal investor property that would be let out. I am sure there are houses that offer a better yield. Our max is 250k, part of me thinks the agent might be saying this in order for us to match the offer which he knows will be accepted because the developer has found another property.

    Has anyone experienced anything similar?
