Quite a few have never had it in the first place.
  • Percy - there is no ladder to pull up, houses are more affordable now than they have been in last 3/4 of a decade - the problem is deposits - people esp young people don't seem to save but you can bet your bottom dollar they go on holiday, spend on beer money, have latest iPhone etc etc - do you think a young person would accept 2nd fuinture, an old tv? Ship in charity shop in order to save and get by/live within means - most would the odd few would

On other threads people would be pleased it had all been spent, they dislike people with savings or notional equity bogging down the economy.

True, as not all Baby Boomers have a stash of 'ill gotten' unearned gains.

Just because the older generation have honestly acquired gains doesn't mean they will automatically pass it down either.

Maybe but in my circle of friends the intention is there, I have never openly encountered any of those SKI types (I am sure they exist), and it looks like the govt may be looking to restrict the amounts clawed back by the state for care home costs.

Pedantry? So you want to simply splurge a load of generalisations, slagging off a generation, and then suggest people are pedants if they pick you up?

"I'm sure the 40-50 year olds hold the most personal debt, only very recently has that started to change, just don't have the proof to hand right now."
Isn't that just a sweeping, shoot from the hip, generalisation ? Might well be incorrect too.

It seems that the baby boomers can be slagged off generally as a selfish and irresponsible generation who have thrust their children and grandchildren into penury and destroyed the planet in the process. Plenty of that sort of stuff to be had on this forum. But when anyone tries to introduce some balance and points out that today's younger generation are not in all respects helping themselves as much as they could, then that's not allowed ?
No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

Im sure at 21 i am still one of the "yoof" and will be a few years yet. We have it so easy it is unreal. There is way too much of a "i want it all and i want it all now" attitude to everything. Everyone on my facebook posts up about being skint all the time yet as soon as the weekend comes around they are all out in the pubs and clubs taking it in turns to throw away £30 - £40 on a round of drinks. They are all "sooo excited" for the iphone 5 as if its going to be a life changing gadget compared to the iphone 4.

There is so many unemployed it riles me to think how much of my taxes are going straight to the pockets of these lazy ********!! Work started drying up as i got through my apprenticeship. *So i went and became a sheep, signed on, cried about life being hard, pretended to apply for "all the jobs i can" yet even though Mcdonalds,Tesco,Asdas etc round here NEVER stop applying as they cannot seem to find enough staff they have to constantly advertise...* Note everything between the *s is a lie, i infact got off my !!!! and went self employed. The bank supported me to the tune of £32,500. And a credit card with a limit of £9,000. To go self employed.

I didnt even have a formal business plan. So the money is availabe from banks to start up a business if working at Mcdonalds etc is beneath them. It embarrasses me how lazy most my age are and who turn noses up at £6 or £7 an hour...at 60 hours a week this comes in at £360 a week gross for an unskilled job!! When i started out apprenticeship i was on £3.20 an hour as there is no minimum wage for that!!

They want it all, and want it all now. I dont like being tarred under the same brush as them despite more or less same unbringing, same schools etc...you do infact make your own luck, some people just seem destined to be a failure. I take massive pride in my work. I feel like i deserve my salary. How can anyone deserve the dole.

The government should strip dole money for under 25s and put it into some sort of first time buyer scheme, even though it shouldnt be needed!

Dont get me started on the amount of young mums who seem to have a kid to get their own place quicker then hand them over to the first willing relitave on a Friday/Saturday night so they can go out spending the benefits on drink.

The only thing that holds me back is my spelling and grammar which has always been my downside. I have never been out of work since i left school just over 5 years ago. Its about priorities and getting off the backside to do something with life.
