Yoof struggling - I think not

So true, I think my children should have to pay 5000x more for a house than I did because the internet will be faster and they will all have bigger TVs and better phones.
Wait a minute, you have just bought a house, you consider yourself 'better off' than your parents, you are more or less one of the younger generation, what is your problem?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

You were £28k in debt and didn't spend any of that on mobile phones, holidays or beer money?
What did you do - waste it?
Sorry if I wasn’t clear, I had major budget changes to clear said debts, there was certainly some of mentioned ‘sins’ involved in running them up.
To be honest its wasn't spent on an extravagant life, it was just spent on having a life, in my early training days I was earning very little money so go into debt quite slowly but consistently, many years of small over spending leads to big debts as it is. Also that £28k did include a car I had just bought at £6.5k which is still going strong.
With that it was part of a bigger plan knowing my wages would go up substantially, to which they did.
So I had years slowly building debts, a few years reasonable static and then a few years clearing debts.
Yes some of it was spent on socialising, but hey I wouldn’t change a thing as to not have run up debts would have meant no social life between 16-22.
It was hard work clearing them but it all worked out.PleasureOfHomeownership wrote: »And all at the expense of your parents, eh boy.
Welcome back, what expense to my parents would that be then?Wait a minute, you have just bought a house, you consider yourself 'better off' than your parents, you are more or less one of the younger generation, what is your problem?
Sorry if I wasn't clear, I am sick of the 'phones/TVs/computers are better and cheaper in relative terms so its fine that houses should cost a lot more' arguement.
As for being better off than my parents, that is due to constant wastage and MEW'ing on there part.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

It sure did, Percy.
28K debt paid off and deposit saved in just a couple of years.
That's what? A 40-50K turnaround?
You must be earning serious money now as you were only on 17K 3 years ago.
Or maybe there's something you're not telling us? :think:0 -

Well yes you are quite correct, on the flipside it wasn't run up with no hope of paying it back and I enjoyed my 'yoof' due to it so why not.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

The deposit was £9300, we where gifted £500 towards that so £8800, I say we as it was a joint purchase, so call it £4400 for me.
In short I have been paying debts down at around £1000-£1100 a month and continued saving at the same rate afterwards.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

Quite the opposite, I am very secure and due to that don't mind talking openly about how I have got to where I am.
Interestingly is it deemed I as working less hard due to running up debts at one point?Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017
