If this is real, and the way you have behaved toward your staff member makes me wonder, you could have jeopardised your standing at work in quite a big way. And you need to prioritise damage control now.
And this has been my problem from the start. The OP firstly did not sound like someone who ran her own business and then it turned out she just ran a dept and worked for someone else and this didn't sit right either.
    And still doesn't.

Almost as strange as the dozens of other things people do on here you wouldn't do ? Not sure with what being pregnant has to do with only saying Hi and bye though ??????

Do get over yourself-Not everyone is the same as you. I have close friends whose husbands wouldn't have a clue where I work or what I do-not everyone talks about work in a social setting or defines others by how they earn a living-and some husbands aren't in the least interested in their wives girlfriends .

I do agree the OP should speak to HR quickly though.

Thank you and you are right, I have never liked my friends husband and vice versa, so no need for him to know anything about me except I am his wifes best friend.

As my business life was beginning to mix due to this situation I spoke with HR before saying anything to ***** and also after.

Going forward I will not be posting any more updates on this matter as I have noticed that certain people are not sticking to the issue.
When I read posts I like people to come back with an update but reading what some people have wrote I can understand why people decline.

  • life is often much stranger than fiction. If I wrote down everything my ex did to cover his affairs or even how he behaves how people would question it. Sometimes it feels like other people live on a different planet, their behaviour, lies and such are so out there.

Sounds to me like you did the right thing there.

That's not going to help you if your colleague complains to HR that as her superior you instructed her to attend you in your office during working hours so that you could make comments and interfere in her private life.

Are you running out of ideas ?

Don't worry, relax over the weekend and hopefully you will have an idea for the next "episode".

No advice to give you OP but I'm getting pretty bored of reading time and time again how people think an OP is lying. So what if this time the tale isn't true it isn't beyond the realms of reality and who knows the advice on this thread could help someone googling for advice in this situation in the future.

All you do by pointing the finger at people is make the board an uncomfortable place to be. In my opinion the only time to step in would be if people got sucked into a thread you didn't think was real and started to offer more than advice. Even then a PM would be more appropriate.

Yes, but what are the odds that a Hollyoaks character will use google to look for advice on this exact situation ?

So true - I often wonder if those doing the accusing simply can't help themselves and just type for the sake of it. Often happens when an OP is being vague about details, when I feel it's perfectly understandable.

    Agreed

In some ways it doesn't really matter if it is true or not-People often take advice from threads they haven't started but these attention seeking egotists who have nothing useful to add except they don't beleeeeeeve it are tedious ( I call them Victors as they do have a touch of the Meldrews about them). Plus they are actively scaring away people who may feel too afraid to post for fear of their accusations.
