I've read about using them like bread crumbs or mixing them with cheese as a savoury topping, but I've never done either as DH always empties the pack!

    I've been Money Tipped!
From the Goode Kitchen book by Shirley Goode. This recipe also uses up the heat from the oven's evening meal overnight so very Old style!

    Meringue Crunchies
    (makes 30 - 36)

    2 egg whites
    5oz/150g caster sugar
6oz/175g crunch (last of the cereal, broken biscuit, muesli, nuts whatever you have)

Beat the egg whites with the sugar for 3 mins with an electric whisk until really thick. (It will take longer if done by hand) Fold in the crunchy bits. Line 3 baking sheets with foil and dot with teaspoons of the mixture, leaving room for them to spread. Place the baking sheets in the oven before you turn it out. Shut the door and turn off the heat and leave the cookies for at least 8 hours (overnight is perfect) Don't open the door until morning! Result very yummy cookies!

This is how we use the bran flake crumbs in our house (I would imagine most cereals would work):
    • in place of some of the oats for flapjacks
    • in place of some of the oats in making muesli/granola-style cereal
    • I soak them in hot water with dried fruit to make bran muffins
Love and compassion to all x

    Just eat them.
Once they've got milk on, and mushed up a bit, you can't tell.

Yeah, I vote for this, too...I just chuck them in the bowl, they normally sink to the bottom where I scoop them up at the end. Not a biggy... :)

    Nope, sorry not for me.
I used to have braces on my teeth and the crumbs used to get stuck in the wires etc. Easier to avoid and now I just don't like it.

But .... waste not want not etc ;) I'm going to try Catznine's idea tonight. Yummy!
