my nan used to crush up cornflakes etc and use to coat chicken portions before cooking(way before we ever had kfc) reckon you could use any cereal like this.maybe wizz them up in a blender and freeze them a bit bread crumbs. you could also use them for crunchy top on pasta bakesLead us not into temptation...
just tell us where it is and we'll find it....0 -
Ok, i know i should be stronger and make the kids eat up the odds and ends of boxes of cereals- i have tried with varying success. but now i'm wondering if i can avoid wasting it by making it into something else?
not feeling very inspired though, all i can think of is cornflake cake type thing, when you mix it with chocolate.

Cereal bars can take a multitude of sins! I had a recipe somewhere off here. Don't know where, but I think there is a thread in the index, there was a thread here the other day as well."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Treacle tart? A pastry case, usually blind baked I think, then stir some golden syrup into the cereals, fill and bake...?
Hang on...
Treacle tart
Just adapt it.
Alternatively you could crumble them up and add them to cheescake bottoms, or crumble tops, or they might work in some of the recipes we have for oatmeal biscuits?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Just about my favourite school dinner pudding ever (even beating chocolate concrete!) was cornflake tart. It was a very thin layer of shortcrust pastry, thin layer of strayberry jam and then topped with golden syrup covered cornflakes.
Funny how things can trigger off memories, I haven't thought about that for years!!"Stay Wonky":D

Crushed up cornflakes (NOT Frosties, natch) go nicely in a meatloaf...
I have a lovely recipe somewhere for one.. will try to find it.0 -
why dont you just pour it into the top of the next box.
flapjack if what you have in stock is muesli based.
If you have shredded wheat you can make easter eggs nests by mixing with chocolate, then filling the nest with mini eggs.
rice krispies, cornflakes etc can go into chocolate fridge cake / tiffin / rocky road.0
