I knew I had an old, half-eaten box of muesli in the cupboard so got it out to make flapjacks with yesterday (which have turned out yummy!). What I didn't know that there was also half a bag of Cheerios in the box. I had some for breakfast this morning and they were disgustingly stale! Tasted of cardboard and had the same texture as it too.

Is it worth trying to bake something with these, or will it still just turn out tasting stale? I thought of doing a version of chocolate rice crispy cakes, but these are definitely not crispy so not sure if it'd work.

Hate throwing things out but would hate wasting good ingredients on it more.
  • Rocky road? Add chocolate, marshmallows, dried fruit, cherries or whatever you have to hand that goes, melt chocolate, add golden syrup, mix in dry ingredients and tip into dish, flatten down and chill in fridge. Lush!
  • Put them on a baking sheet and dry them out in the oven (next time you have it on anyway) to crisp them up. That won't cost anything and if they're improved in taste and texture it'll be okay to use them for something.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
  • if they're not okay, the birds will probably like them.

  • For the past few months I've been collecting all the end bit of cereal in a tub, there's a mixture of weetabix, cornflakes, cheerios etc etc. Is there anything I can do with it all? There's about half a big plastic container full, the ones you use to put cereal in instead of the box.
  • Rocky road or you could add it to oats and make a flapjack cereal bar type thing?

Sorry...but WHY? The crumbs at the end just go into the last bowl from the box....why would you save them...?

all the ends of boxes go into a large tupperware and are offered to the kids for breakfast under the names of "christmas mix" "easter mix" "spring mix"...you get the idea. They now ask for "mixture" for breakfast :)
