Anyone here know the areas of Selly Oak, Edgbaston and Harborne near to QE Hospital Birmingham? Due to DH work we need to find somewhere to live.

No kids so schools not an issue. Looking online Selly Oak seems a lot cheaper - is there a particular reason?

    Any help gratefully received.

I managed to get three loads of laundry dry on the line today :j even though it looked as though it was going to rain at various points this afternoon, it stayed dry. Other things that I got done today

OH and I cut grass and did some weeding
    WM x 3
    Handwashed tights
    Vacuumed through all downstairs
    All ironing done
    Dinner cooked
    Dishes washed
    S&S kitchen

Phew ... busy day! I am exhausted and I don't even have any children to deal with - I've no idea how all you busy mums do it! I'm hoping that I can get into good habits with flylady now, perfect my homemaking skills, and then when I do enter motherhood I will have a solid history of flylady to keep me going! ;)

You need short_bird - if she's not around PM her. If it were me I would look for a let until I found my feet - say 6 months. Bournville's lovely - but I've only been for day visits.

I think SarahShattered was from around there too - but she got full time work so (rather reluctantly) left us. Some of us have her on Facebook though.

There are also websites where you can get info about crimes etc. But not a clue what they are (Valli lives in a little bubble and doesn't really want to know about such things)

They were in bed, lol, till DS got up to tell me DD was out of bed. I went up, and there she was, bold as brass, in MY bed, with my bottle of water, and the TV on! She's not even two yet, the little madam!

I've missed em. Of course I wouldn't have it any other way (well, maybe one stupidly impossible way, of course!)

Oh my - she sounds JUST like the Valligirl!

    :rotfl:

On a saturday afternoon I used to start fretting...it's getting easier now they're older.

How did they like their bears BTW?

exH came round to tell me he was redundant (when he picked the kids up). He's rather anxious to have PPI to kick in ASAP to pay his bank loan.

One wonders, idly, what a man who not so very long ago had £30K 'gifted', and had a redundancy payent from his former employers (amount unknown) has done with the money - especially as he has been living in rentals.

That's my neck of the woods Cat - well within a couple of miles. Mostly, they are fairly good areas - although like everywhere there are some rougher parts! The main reason Selly Oak is cheaper is because it's a big student area. Feel free to pm me if you want to ask anything.

ETA I'd agree with Valli - Bournville is nice (but expensive!) and also agree on the short term let first - the QE is easily accessible by car, bus and train from lots of areas so once you get your bearings you could open up the areas you look at quite a lot.

They love the bears. Am almost done with the scrapbook too. Just need some extra inserts and we're done. They have a full set, scrapbooks, memory bears, special framed photo (wearing garment that bear is made from), patchwork quilt with fabric from his pjs, a tree and plaque, and of course, oodles of photos. not sure what else I can do to keep his memory alive, other than talking about him lots x
