I did, but they claimed not to understand what I was telling them.

I finished up putting it in my phone and make best use I could of it.. I also tried teathering, but that was blocked.

Cheeky bustards. Of course they realised. A call to Orange would have alerted them to their mistake.

Yes, but all I got was 'no comprehende' - it won't happen again..

Maybe with this new EU 'no roaming' agreement they are working on will sort this in future, but I'm not sure if this will cover data or not..

I bought a Spanish data sim before I left for my Mifi from a eBay supplier in Spain, lasted 4 days used for a couple of hours per day just for emails. 1gb of Data for almost £30 makes me wish I had left the wifi ipad at home and stuck with the smartphone using UK roaming.

We learn from our mistakes. My old Carrefour data SIM was still live when I got there. It was almost a year old. So I ended up having two. So if I ever went over my 100MB limit for the day, I simply swapped SIMs.

It's the iPad generation. They just want convenience and end up paying too much for everything. :money: (ok, a bit generalised) In your case it was the iPad, the MiFi and the Vodafone SIM.

Sadly, Carrefour have closed in Ibiza and you can't buy their SIM online..

Actually you can if you have a Spanish address. http://www.carrefour.es/telecom/tienda-online/

But they will have a Spanish hotel or apartment to which they are going. No need to speak Spanish. Google Translate will help with the odd word.

Thanks, I would have never of thought of that!

You would need to book in advance, tell the hotel to expect a packet with your name on and hope they keep it for you on arrival.

Just been through the form and it appears they do not cover the Canaries:mad:

I went to Ibiza and finished up buying an Orange SIM from a Phone Shop [not an Orange shop] which was sold to me for 20 Euros as a data SIM. However, I found it would not work in my MiFi only in my phone, and I kept getting texts asking me to top it up.

I called in to an Orange shop to ask what the problem was and they told me it was not a data SIM, just a normal one with 1G data allowance.

    A total waste of money!

Help! Was that an Orange Ballena SIM card? Will the Ballena tarriff not work with my mi-fi? Please confirm anyone because I leave on Mon for Spain and I bought a mi-fi and a Ballena Orange sim card, so it won't work then? :-(

Does Delphin work with a mi-fi?

Can anyone using a mi-fi confirm which brand and which tariff they used and whether it worked in their mi-fi? I got an unlocked former 3 mi-fi from ebay and am thinking this 1gb Ballena Orange SIM card won't work?

Sorry I mispelt it - it is called Ballena (Spanish for Whale) by Orange. (Now edited it).

Won't let me post a link to the tarrif because I'm a new user. LOL I'll paste in what it says for Balena tariff 1gb for 12Euros/month (then down to 128kbps speed after you used the 1gb). Sounds ideal for my mi-fi and really cheap. (Less than 15Euros for a month of data including tax).
