I already posted the link in post #30.
The relevant passage is here:Una vez superado el 1 GB a m!xima velocidad, se reducir! la velocidad a 64 Kbps

Eeeek!!! Wow that is well hidden under the "Details" is tiny small print!! Thank you thank you thank you!

The Spanish SIM card seller on ebay and on his website says 128kbps!!! As I said, you never trust a phone shop...

So now I think this 2gb Orange data card for 29.99Euros sounds the best. I know where to find an Orange shop, but after 1mix was told he needed a 50gb/month contract and that a sim was not possible I really need a photo of the 2gb Orange data sim card so I know what to buy and instructions of what to text to what number to activate it? If you know please provide.

I can go with another card but I need it at least 128kbps accessible for the whole month, I need the Orange network (because it's the only one with coverage for my area) and I need a picture of details of the card I want and instructions to activate it, because I can't trust someone in a phone shop to understand all my needs.

    I meant post #130 of course. :)

    2GB data is the same.
    2 GB incluidos. Despu!s navegar!s a 64 kb sin pagar m!s.

MasMovil, Happy M!vil, Carrefour M!vil, Jazztel Movil, D!a M!vil and Simyo are all Orange.

    MasMovil has a 5GB package for 31.99€ or a 1GB package for 15.94€.

    APN:masdatos I think.

Sounds good. Do you know if it is capped at the data or whether it continues for the whole month at 64/128 kbps?

    Look

Not capped at all. If you go over, you pay. :) 0.03€ pr MB. So 30€ per GB.

So if you want to play on the Internet, get the 5GB package. ;)

Of course you should see where the Ballena package takes you before jumping.

It sounds a good solution. Been on the locations and can't find one on Lanzarote (maybe I'm doing it wrong?)

Looked to order online for delivery to my Spanish address but it is asking for an id number.. Presumably it would ask for an id number if there was a shop where I could purchase. :-(

I put Lanzarote and got one location. Te Comunicamos.com
    Mejico, 72

I put Arrecife and get four locations.

I'm not sure that you should be travelling on your own at all. :)

Ordering online, you need to be looking at those little arrows...they give you options. So you need to change Contract to Top Up and ID to PAS(for passport). Choose 'New number'...
    I worry about you :)

In the shop they would ask for your passport.

    Hahahahahaha
Thanks for the help! What's your number, in case I need you when I'm in Lanzarote?! :rotfl:

Seriously though, I don't think the website works for me (My browser or the language setting perhaps). It just says
We could not find any distributor.
Enter an address in the search box or try changing the search criteria to find your closer MASMOVIL distributor.

I'll look at the online option to order... Thanks!

I thought I would share my experience of a Tuenti SIM card in Moraira on the Costa Blanca.

The nearest Movistar shop to Moraira was in Benissa next door to Mercadona on the N332.

    http://goo.gl/maps/2EsjH GPS 38.716264,0.057507

They sold Tuenti SIMs but they only had the micro SIM so I would have to come back the next day.

A Google search of Tiendes Movistar en calpe shows 4 Movistar shops in Calpe but as I was going to Finestrat anyway the next shop I tried was Worten in Finestrat. They also only had the micro SIM.

So I went to the Movistar shop in la Marina Centro Comercial (shopping centre) next door.

    http://goo.gl/maps/WMYjA GPS 38.539489, -0.175223

This shop sold me a SIM card and fitted it to my phone for me and got it working as a phone. She then handed me some instructions and said I should change the APN to get internet and it would take 10 min to work.

I sat outside the shop and went into my mobile network settings menu and selected Access Point Names. The settings are:

    Name: Tuenti
    APN: tuenti.com
    User: tuenti
    password: tuenti

The Internet was OK with download speeds ranging from 1 to 3 MBPS and uploads from 0.18 to 0.7 MBPS.

Reception was OK and I could get a signal in the house but it was only one bar. The Internet generally worked but could go very slow around lunch and tea time. In two weeks it happened about five times which was a little annoying but not the end of the world.

You can create hotspots using tethering and it does work in a USB dongle. VoIP seems to be blocked. I did get it to work for one of the days but it would always cut the call off after the same amount of time. They do say you can use VoIP with their app but I couldn’t get it to work.

The SIM was free but you have to put 12 euros of credit on it at the start.

Approx 7.50 euros was debited for the 1GB allowance (6 euros + VAT) and 4.50 euros left for calls. A 1 min call to a UK landline was 0.98 euros. A bit of a rip off so not very useful. All the shops I visited spoke good English and were very helpful.

Overall it was good value for money if you want internet access but very poor value for phone calls.

Good review. Try Localphone for calls the next time.
